Our Gardens

They are - I’ve had them on my lilies
Best way is to look for them and remove them - easy to see as they’re red so it was a Lily bug you removed

I had these red bugs on my Lillies too. Completely killed them and the larvae are disgusting. They literally walk around covered in poo. 🤢

My lillies came from a market stall and were half dead when I got them. Even tried to water them in a restaurant toilet to save them before I got them home. They came back lovely the year after and every year since... until the bugs moved in.

I had a beautiful pot of orange lilies on my patio for three years. My neighbour bought a cheap lily plant from Lidl and suddenly mine was covered in lily bugs and lava that killed it. His lily died too, I'm pretty sure the bugs came with his plant.

Woke up to this:

Absolutely hate them! I have several Lillie’s severely compromised by them. Every year is the same, they grow really well, then go yellow and weak. You lift the bugs off but I suspect by that time they have already done their damage. I really need to stop growing them for a few years and chuck them all out and start again

I have one pot surrounded by other plants which seem untouched, maybe that’s the answer

I didn’t want to kill the Lilly bugs so I would pick them off and put them in the green waste bin. If you listen carefully you can hear them squeaking. It made me feel so bad.

My lavender is starting to get flowers. I'm thinking of cutting it and drying it to make little sachets to put in drawers.

Do you guys ever feed it to your piggies?

All my piggies have loved lavender. There are several places in my garden where the run is in contact with lavender when it's in bloom and even though I try to push it out of the way there are often one or two sprigs that they can get at. I only intentionally give it to them on special occasions like their gotcha days.

We have wrens with young in one of our nesting boxes, it great to see them going in and out but we are not welcome in our our garden by them. Every time we go outside they start shouting at us, it’s constant and a couple of times we have both been dive bombed (I thought it was only seagulls) They are a funny aggressive little pair 😆 Here’s their nest, I dare not go
any nearer

We have a very irate pair of blackbirds that seem to think they own the garden at the moment. I get screamed at from the top of the tomato trellis when I'm outside. They nest every year a couple of gardens away, I've not seen any young yet though. We do have a fox cub coming round at the moment, it made me jump earlier when I was in the green house, peering round the door at me. It scarpered quick when I said hello. The hedgehog is back too it's been leaving it's calling card but I've not seen it yet.

How lovely 🥰 Yes, we have a hedgehog somewhere around but like you not seen it yet

We had two visitors this morning. They both had a drink from the dish we have on the ground for the blackbirds and Mum then settled down on the grass for a nap in the sun. We think they are living in a derelict shed which is hidden behind the roses in the next door but one garden. The cub disappeared as soon as it had had a drink. I wondered why that water was going down so quickly, I assumed it was the heat evaporating it.
