Milo has a Melanoma

I’m so sorry you lost Milo, you really did make the best decision for Milo at the time by giving him a chance. He had such a wonderful life with you and knew how loved he was. Sending you lots of hugs during this difficult time 🧡

I'm so sorry you lost Milo, I was just reading and catching up as I'd missed this thread.. I'm gutted for you that he didn't make it.
I would have made the same decision, sometimes we have to try, and even though he didn't make it he has allowed piggies that come after him to stand a better chance than they would have, by being the first to attempt this surgery. What a little fighter ❤️

Having lost a similar number of piggies in the last year, it's easy to get caught up in what you may or may not have done wrong, what you could have done differently, but I bet when you look at each one, you'll see you did your absolute best and that's all that matters. You're not a bad owner, these little guys are just so fragile it's a toss of a coin whether they'll make it sometimes no matter what we do.

I'm so sorry you have lost Milo. You did everything out of love.
I agree with Eriathwen.
I've lost 7 piggies in 12months.Its raw at the moment for you.You give all your piggies the best life and care.
I'm Thinking of you and you family at this very sad time.x

Oh Yvonne,I am so so sorry. Please don't doubt yourself, all of us can testify what a lovely kind and caring owner you are.You did your very best for Milo and didn't do anything wrong. It must be so hard loosing Milo after loosing 6 piggies in the past year.Sending massive hugs and thinking of you xx

I'm very sorry that you lost Milo.
It's heartbreaking to loose one piggy but it's so much harder to loose so many. 💔
You did everything you could for your sweet boy.
Sleep tight Milo. 🌈

The vet just called me with the results of the postmortem. They found that Milo's liver and spleen were covered in small cancerous nodules. Because it wasn't just a large mass it didn't show on the X-ray. She said it is a very unusual spread. So his cause of death was almost certainly liver failure. 😢

There were no complications from the surgery, so both us and the vet now know that this type of op could be offered to other piggies. At least Milo has left a legacy by being the first.

I’m so glad that such sad loss has offered hope for other piggies that are unfortunate to get Melanoma. Little Milo has left his legacy for future piggies, he was a pioneer! I hope this puts your mind at ease in the knowledge that you did everything you could have possibly done for him, take care of each other xx

Although sad, I’m glad you have an answer as to why Milo died and that it wasn’t anything to do with the surgery (((hugs))) look after yourself why you process it all x

I’m sure the PM results are comforting in a way, as you now have answers and know that the surgery didn’t play any part in his passing. Go gently with yourselves as you mourn your loss. X
