Milo has a Melanoma

How is Milo now ?
Poor Milo hasn't had a great 24 hours. He stopped eating (even his favorite coriander) and there were no poops yesterday. Not sure if it is the after effects of the anesthesia, pain or the ABs. I syringe fed him all day and he was just a bit flat.

This morning he seems a little better. Still ignoring his veggies but has been eating a little hay. He was much more feisty and expressed his displeasure at the syringe feeding and hopped out of the tray he was in when I turned my back. We also have poops this morning. The wound looks good but it must be painful, even with the Metacam.

He has a follow up appointment tomorrow, so if he is still not eating well I will ask if we can have more pain relief meds.

Brave little man, get eating more soon Milo x. Hope everything goes well at his appointment tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞

Milo had his wound checked today and it is healing really well. However he has a little bloat. The vet thinks the problem is pain related. I didn't realise but there are lots more stitches on the inside as they had to take out tissue all the way down to his spine. So we now have Tramadol for 3 days and Gabapentin as a back-up if he reacts badly to the Tramadol. We also have Emeprid for 3 days on top of the Cisapride. I have to call the vet on Monday to tell them how he is doing.

He is eating more hay today and is moving around more too. Yesterday i decided to put him and Maud in the run downstairs next to the other piggies for floor time and this really seemed to help as he even had a bit of a rumble at Val.

We have an appointment Friday next week to remove the external stitches.

Poor Milo,he's had a big operation, pain from the wound healing will be high. Now you have stronger pain relief I hope the bloat subdued.
You and Milo are going through some stress.
Milo will know you love him, even if he doesn't understand why the operation was out of love, and kindness.
Hugs to you Yvonne,and family.

Poor Milo. Hope he starts peeking up soon ❤️
Well done Milo ❤️

🌸Milo is a strong little man and he knows you love him. Before you know Milo will be pop corning and squeaking🌸

Sadly Milo is still not doing too well. He is not eating enough for himself and is still a bit bloated. So i am syringe feeding him 3 time a day. Had a chat with the vet today and he has suggested we cut out all the meds except for Metacam and Cisaprid as the worry is that the Tralieve (Tramdol) is making Milo sleepy. He had his last dose of ABs today so i am hoping that this will make a difference to his appetite. his wound is healing really well on the outside but i know that the inside may take a bit more time.

Unfortunately, i am also really busy at work with an important deadline to hit this Friday. I am feeling drained and worried because Allan is going to have to do Milo's feeds for the next couple of days as i have to be in the office. Its good to come on here and know that you all understand, most people don't get that i am spending all this time and money on a guinea pig.

BIG HUGS

Wishing you and Milo all the best to get through this week.

I hope now the antibiotics are finished his appetite comes back.

It’s so stressful when they are ill. Sending healing vibes and a hug to you.

Sending hugs and healing wheeks to you and little Milo. Caring for a sick guinea pig is exhausting without big work deadlines. You're both doing a great job. I hope stopping the antibiotics and tramadol help his appetite.

Poor Milo 😞 I’m sorry he isn’t doing so well.

Of course, these things always happen at the worse possible time and I know it’s hard but please try and not worry. Allan is more than capable of medicating him while you are at work.

I hope by taking the tramodol out of his medication mix that he won’t feel so sleepy

Sending you a hug. Make sure you look after yourself too x

Hang in there, you are both doing a great job with Milo. Hoping that nasty bloat soon fades away and he gets chomping better :hug:We all know how incredibly hard it is, especially when you have work too, you must be both totally exhausted x

Oh I’m so sorry Yvonne. I can feel your stress from here. The timing of these things is just typical but I’m sure Allan will be a great stand in while you’re otherwise engaged. Poor Milo. I hope now the ABs are finished he will start to regain his appetite and give you less cause for concern. Huge hugs xx
