That's great news!
Oh no Yvonne. I’m so sorry. You’ve tried your absolute best for Maud. I’m sorry the call to the bridge was just too strong. Sending you massive hugs.I just wanted to update this post with the sad news that we had to help Maud across the rainbow bridge. Even though her lungs were getting better she suddenly started to become bloated and then constipated (which our vet had never seen in 15 years of treating guinea pigs).
Scans and x-ray didn't reveal an underlying cause such as a tumor or blockage and our vet tried everything to help her (even reaching out to other exotics vets) but poor Maud just became more constipated. Her stomach was solid with faeces as she hadn't passed any poops for over a week. Surgery wasn't really an option and even though she was still eating we agreed that PTS was the kindest thing for her. We didn't want to wait until she was in excruciating pain from a ruptured bowel. It was one of the hardest goodbyes, as Maud was still alert and eating but I believe a day too early is better than an hour too late.
We agreed to our vet carrying out a PM as we hope it will help other piggies in the future. Sadly the results were inconclusive. There was no blockage, tumors or lesions. The vet thinks that something (disease / infection maybe) damaged the nerves in her intestine which caused it to stopped moving. He had seen this in rabbits and cats but never in a piggy.
Popcorn free our beautiful girl. Milo will be waiting for you at the rainbow bridge.

We are wondering if it was the same disease / infection that caused the initial lung damage.Oh I’m so sorry to hear this Yvonne. It sounds like you & your vets were fighting an invisible enemy and your decision was absolutely the kindest one. Huge hugs to you xx
