I’m so sorry for the bad news Yvonne Whatever decisions you make for Maud going forward will be the right one (((hugs))) thinking of you x
Maud has gone for her x-ray this morning. She refuses to eat anything except for coriander, so i managed to syringe feed her 12ml of critical care before she went to the vets. Please keep your fingers crossed for her today.
Yes, they are struggling for staff. I believe that they have two new vets with exotics experience joining them soon but i don't think they have actually started yet. Thankfully, Maud is now under the care of Aiden who is the head exotics vet.Ashleigh have two new exotics specialists alongside the current two (to my knowledge), but they lost I think three of their long-standing exotics vet in the space of a few months. It sounds like they're going through a difficult period.
Sending you big hugs! I hope Maud picks up a little. x
I ask them! I usually ask how often they treat guinea pigs. If they are performing a surgical procedure, i ask what their success rate is. I have asked for other vets at the practice to carry out surgery if i don't have confidence in the vet assigned to my pet. I know they have to get experience but with something like a spay, previous successful outcomes are important. I find that the vets at Ashleigh are happy to provide the information and have been fine about me taking a piggy to a more experienced vet for a particular procedure. How do you find out which vets have the most exotic pet experience?
