I am in despair - healing vibes needed again

Another day, but I can't report any more progress with poor Annie :( Tonight I have given her some syringe food, a drink of water by syringe and she ate a leaf of lettuce but showed no further interest in food of any description. I think I will try poop soup tomorrow as I have one fit and well piggie who may be willing to make a donation.

I will do an update tomorrow.

Hope all is well today munchmonster! A tip for syringe feeding that I learnt through experience is have your piggie flat against something (I sat mine on a blanket on an armchair against the back, so he didn’t have anywhere to run away to), and gently squeeze their lips on either side with your fingers, that way you can gently pull the lip up so you can get the syringe in! Once it’s in they can’t really do anything about it. Lots of healing vibes for Annie especially, but all three of your poorly piggies.

Thanks for that Xmolxlie I will give that a try. Considering she isn't well she has the strength to keep her mouth tightly shut.

How’s Annie doing? And yourself? X

I am still giving her 2 types of meds that the vet prescribed but she is wheeking when I walk into the room and has started eating small amounts of certain veggie snacks. She has gone off most, but will eat a leaf of romaine lettuce and some cucumber. She has certainly improved from the poorly piggie who saw the vet a week ago. I feel such a large cloud has lifted from my shoulders.
Wilbur saw Ellie the vet yesterday and he is progressing well. She said the infection in his jaw appears to have gone and rasped his teeth as a spur had started to grow again. He has to have a check-up in 4 weeks, which will be the first day of my retirement! I am returning for 2 days a week in January.

I hope you and your furry family are all good too. x

Oh that all is good news! Ah and happy almost retirement! A bit more time with the furry family for you then ❤️
We are all good thank you xx

Good progress with Annie and Wilber, hope it continues 🤞
Enjoy your retirement, more time to spend with the piggies

Ah that’s great news your piggies are improving. It’s such a worry and for you more so with having the stress of work etc.
Things are going the right way for you all and roll on your semi retirement . I thoroughly recommend it ! 🥰

Is that Ellie Whitehead? If so she’s absolutely brilliant! She’s my piggy vet too!

Hi XmolXlie yes, the lovely vet is Ellie Whitehead. Wilbur is due for a follow up with her at the end of the month
She’s brilliant! You’re definitely in good hands with your piggies 💞 I started seeing her with my pigs thanks to this forum ❤️ My older pig Kovu has an appointment with her tomorrow for a uti treatment checkup, fingers crossed 🤞🏻

So glad to hear all your pigs are on the mend munchmonster! I know it’s just reading their stories over the internet but whenever I see peoples posts about their poorly pigs, I always hope they’re doing okay randomly throughout the day 💞🤗

Also congrats and good luck for your semi-retirement! Enjoy your extra time with your furry family 🤗

Me too Xmolxlie! Thanks to this forum I too learned about Ellie when Wilf was a poorly piggie and now Wilbur, his brother has excellent care from her. I hope there is good news for Kovu tomorrow.
Thinking about my retirement, I am starting to feel a little nervous as it gets near as I have worked full time for years, but I am thoroughly looking forward to having more time with my furry family!

I’m so glad all your piggies have had amazing care from her! There was a lot of good news for Kovu yesterday thankfully, she did an X-ray on her and there’s no kidney stones, and her uti is improving still, and her medication dosage has been reduced 🤗 hope all goes well at your follow up appointment!

I can imagine it’s a very nerve wracking time but I’m sure you’ll thrive and enjoy spending more time with your furry family 💞

We are back to square one again today i am sorry to say. I have been sitting with Wilf on my lap all evening but he just sits hunched up and isn't interested in eating, so I have been syringe feeding him again. His friend Annie isn't well either, she normally wheeks loudly when I come into the room but she is silent. I need to get them to see Ellie in Matlock but am in a catch 22 situation in that I cannot have any more leave so must have unpaid leave (that is if they will allow it) and if I am not paid I will struggle to pay the vets bill. Hopefully I will get some sleep tonight and wake up in a more positive frame of mind. Fingers crossed.
I hope to post some more positive news tomorrow.

Sorry your lovely piggies are still sick and need the vets. I hope you manage to sort out the logistics. Piggies sometimes have the habit of picking the worst times to be poorly.

Oh no I’m sorry to hear this. Sending love and healing vibes. Life is so difficult sometimes x

I'm so sorry you are going through this.ive to take Casper and Matthew to Ellie next week.just need to make an appointment.I'm syringe feeding these two,I can logistically only manage 60mls each daily as it takes me so long !munchmonster if I can help in taking any of your piggies to Ellie let me know.its emotionally draining when piggies are poorly.
