Informed on breeding and people who do so and keeping in touch with friends who happen to breed would possibly be a better turn of phrase but my reason for being on those forums is really not the point in question.
Please do not get defensive and question my motives or reasons for being on those forums iloveanimals I am just trying to help and was in no way being mean, the site does have a rescue section but you said you wanted to not get any more guineapigs and have been tempted by the site to ask about guinea pigs and rabbits- be they from rescue or from breeders, and had made several enquiries on there in one evening. Guinea welfare is important to me who evers shed they are in breeder or pet owner and you and asked for people to help you not get anymore and so I brought it to your attention that you had been tempted by several animals and should maybe re-concider making enquiries and/or visiting the site at all, in a thread you had started to help you stop being tempted. Possibly it would have been better by PM but as you had publically asked for help I publically gave it so you could get support from who ever you chose to on here lots of people want to help.
If you would like to know why I visit the breeders sites (and when I look at piggys I can be tempted I am only human and think they are gorgeous for a moment too- but then I just think of all the animals we have here and the next call about 10+ guinea pigs needing rescue placements which soon brings me down with a thump!)
The breeders site do have rescue sections most of which i post in, it is great to keep people more aware of rescues, also if someone who was looking for a piggy who may not have known about a local rescue can see them there when they look for baby guineas from the breeding forums. . I am also friends with people on breeders forums as there are some breeders out there who care for their guineas very much. I like to know about the breeding world plus there are some lovely individuals who can give great advice as they are more experienced with pregnancies.
I have been cold called by people trying to find places for guinea pigs and subsequently found out there are breeders trying to get rid of unwanted stock and also people phone here who actually have the intention of breeding from the guineas they re-home, so to know who is who can save a space for a needy guinea is very useful and prevent our guinea pigs going to unsuitable homes, although most are put off by our homechcking and adoption donation ;D O0. Without the breeders forums I would not know as much about which calls were genuine and which are not.
I am not 007 ;D I just like to learn as much about guineas as possible and there are some lovely people that do happen to breed that I enjoy talking to and give valuable advice on many issues. Breeding can be a sensitive issue here as it is a pro rescue forum and everyone has their own opinion, I would rather guineas were not sold from petshops and only available from licensed breeders or rescues. Some breeders keep all their retired sows and babies, some sell babies they will not use for showing, some breeders make me :tickedoff: but isn't that the same with everything be it guinea pig breeding or who is in the local pub one night

Inentional breeding is a topic not usually discussed on this forum so for advice on pregnancys I do go to breeders sites where they have more experience of it, they all know I rescue and who I am so if I was 007 my cover would be awful and I would probably be put up against the nearest wall and shot ;D
