Eriathwens piggies

It really has flown by, hasn't it!

It'll suprise no one that they didn't behave themselves one bit 😂 but their teeth are done, they're back home stuffing their faces.

Forrest has a cataract in his 'good' eye, which doesn't matter much as he can't see anyway, but he's other eye is now pretty much full of whatever it is, it's a case of when, not if it ruptures, unless we're very lucky. But as its still not bothering him we're still reluctant to remove it, the risk is still too high compared to the benefits.

Aw Meg! Gorgeous girl 😍 I do love an all black piggy.

Poor Delilah clearly needs to fill out a complaint form.. I took so long cleaning them out that she fell asleep! It took her a little bit to wake up, when I first opened the box I thought she had passed, little bugger! 😅 luckily she was just absolutely fast asleep.

Dylan went to see my vet today just to check on some sneezing and get the all clear to have him castrated. Luckily there's no URI, he thinks it may be a mycoplasma and he will always be a little snuffly. There's no discharge from his eyes or nose and everything sounds clear. It'll likely only be an issue during times of stress, so I'll keep a close eye on him after his surgery which is being done Monday 😀

I went up to do meds tonight and Gus seemed a little off, he joined his ladies for syringe feeding tonight but he doesn't have much of an appetite, even grass hasn't tempted him much. I'll be calling the vet first thing, by the looks of his behaviour its a dental issue? I'm not sure. He's by no means lethargic but just seems a bit deflated 😔 he's not a young man, probably turning around 7 or 8 soon, so I'm quite worried about him poor thing. His ladies are keeping him warm and cosy luckily.

Hope everything goes well for Dylan on Monday 🤞

Poor Gus, I hope you can get him seen to very quickly and find out what’s the matter. He is a lovely old boy 💙

He has an appointment at 10:15 but unfortunately it isn't looking good. He's started to drool this morning and is getting unsteady on his feet 😔 I think there's likely a tumour somewhere as he hasn't lost any weight at all in spite of not eating.

So the little man is home again much to my surprise, the exotics vet agrees his teeth look OK, left side is slightly over normal but shouldn't have caused such a sudden issue. His heart sounds strong and his guts still have a little noise, he can't feel anything abnormal anywhere although it's likely given his age and symptoms we're looking at a tumour somewhere. His pain medication has been increased and he has cisipride and emeprid 3xs a day to hopefully see if that improves his appetite.

He said I can bring him in Monday morning to see my normal vet if I'm still concerned so considering I'm already seeing him to drop Dylan off, that's reassuring, I'm also in with Panda in the afternoon if he waits until later to worry me 😅
As he is so elderly we're reserving diagnostics for later just in case, it's possible he would just pass away after being given some aneasthetic.

So..fingers crossed.

I’m so very sorry for your loss.

So very sorry.
You gave Gus such a lovely life and for him to die peacefully at home is a good ending.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve.
