Eriathwens piggies

Doing meds this evening and noticed Tilly looking thinner than usual, get her on the scales and sure enough she's down by 80g 😔 luckily she still has a very good appetite, eating critical care and oats off a spoon and her poops look good so I'm going to have a change around of her diet to see if we can get some weight back onto her, will probably book her for another check up just in case when I can. Her eye has cleared up but her nostril is still a little wet so I'm not sure if she will need more eyedrops or something different.

I hope she realises how special she is to get this treatment at 3am! 🤣

Thankyou, she is up 60g again, however she also now has 2 growths inside her left ear. My vet had said her fluid build ups in her abdomen were likely due to a tumour somewhere so obviously lumps aren't something I want to be finding. Both her and Panda have appointments on the 22nd, she is very well in herself which is comforting at least.

I figured as Panda produced a stone I should at least rule out any more even though she is also well in herself.

Think Ebony is going to have to head to the vet tomorrow as she has stopped eating and is a little bloaty. Luckily I have a decent sized bottle of emeprid from my vet which should give her a good nudge in the right direction, but if the main cause is from the spinal pain she may have to start gabapentin sooner rather than later as last thought at her last visit.

So that's 2 of them being ayringe fed for now! Luckily Mabel is happy to share.

It's definitely been a long night, not going to lie. I've only had 2 hours sleep after not sleeping the night before either.. ive got to go out later to a presentation evening down the athletics club so I can't even have an early night 😅

Typically she had started eating hay in the waiting room, what we assume happened was the spinal pain that was picked up last week caused her to eat a little less, then having broccoli for her dinner was just enough to cause her to bloat, which lead to the reduced appetite. Its likely the spinal pain is due to the vitamin C deficiency she came with all those years ago as apparently it can cause issues way down the line. Considering how badly she had it, I'm not surprised.

Basically we're going to carry on with the emeprid as it has clearly helped, shes on that 3xs a day for a few days alongside the syringe feeds. She will probably get gabapentin added in when her guts have settled down again to keep on top of her pain, if the cartophen injection she got yesterday isn't enough to get her back on track.

I also met a lovely old labrador called Lucky who came in for some injections, he wasn't a fan of the vets, apparently at 8 weeks old he ate a load of raisins and formed a very strong opinion of the vets after that 🤣 but he was happy to have a head scratch.

I managed to stay awake, got the fright of my life halfway through when I actually won an award 🤣 got a bloody great trophy for perseverance, encouraging others etc. Presented to me by an Olympian whose name I've forgotten 🤦‍♀️ it'll come back to me, but she was lovely.
Just got home, gave Ebony her next emeprid dose and done pellets which she seemed interested in.
Once I've had a moment to sit down I'll get her next feed done 😅 I'm home sooner than I expected to be, so I'm still hopeful I'll be in bed earlier than last night at least!

Congratulations on you well deserved award.

Thankyou!
I've gone and picked up a cold or some sort of viral thing now, I suppose running in the rain and then not sleeping will do that to you 🤦‍♀️ so cleaning all the piggies out today will be fun 🤣

But Ebony has been eating, I got up at 5am to do her emeprid and gave her some more hay which she started eating so I had skipped one of her syringe feeds so I could get some extra sleep. I'm hoping it doesn't last too long because I feel very rough! 😅

Thankyou! I'm feeling better than I did this morning, hopefully after another decent sleep it'll be almost gone, the one perk to having such a ridiculously fast metabolism is I seem to burn through most illness quite quickly.

Ebony is continuing to do well, I'm going to reduce the emeprid to twice a day Monday and start her on the gabapentin so it has some time to fully get into her system for a few days before she's completely off the emeprid. I'm hoping by the end of the week to have her completely off syringe feeds because having her and Mabel out at the same time is like having 2 naughty kids sat with eachother at lunch time 🤦‍♀️ Ebony has taken a liking to burrowing under the hay and Mabel then headbutts her, knocking hay off the towel and all over the sofa and floor.

These 2 are so sweet together 😅

I've started Ebony on gabapentin now and already her pain around her back end seems a little better, she is a little unsteady on her feet but that could just be because she can walk more normally now and hasn't quite got the knack yet.

Also.. she is perfectly capable of counting, it seems! She hates the gabapentin, so once she's had her usual 3 syringes of meds, she runs off across the cage before I can shove the gabapentin in 🤣

I take it gabapentin tastes bad?

I am sorry to hear you have lost your voice. I hope it comes back soon and doesn't get very sore. Good luck at the vets!
