Eddie doesn't quite seem himself

Another little update for you:

I spoke to the nurse this morning to update her on how Eddie's been this weekend. She's happy with his progress so she is happy for me to stop with the syringe feeding. I'm going to miss out his lunchtime one and probably his afternoon and evening ones to see if he eats even more for himself when he's not being filled up on Emeraid. I'll still give him one first thing in the morning to begin with incase he's not eaten quite enough in the night. I will continue weighing daily and if his weight drops again I will start syringe feeding again.

Once his poos are back to normal I can stop the gut stimulant too. I won't do that just yet as I didn't see any poos that looked like Eddie's yesterday evening or this morning.
Is this something I should be concerned about? I don't understand why there's a sudden lack of poos again.

In a few days time I can start to reduce the loxicom and I am to continue the antibiotics for a week.

Then in a month's time they want to see Eddie again to check the spur hasn't come back again so they can catch it before it gets bad again.

I've just separated Eddie and Elvis to see if Eddie poos because until yesterday afternoon/ evening I'd been able to tell who's poos were who's because Eddie's were smaller and misshapen and now there's none like that. I can't tell if Eddie's poos are normal again or if he's stopped pooing. I'll check on him in half an hour.

I ended up leaving Eddie for more than half an hour but there's still be no poos. He hasn't eaten as much hay today as yesterday but that wouldn't have an immediate impact on poos would it? I'm going to keep going with the Emeraid until I see poos again. I'm worried again I don't understand why there aren't any when he's definitely been eating :(

It was Saturday evening that Eddie started eating hay so you're right it would make sense for there to be a lack of poos at this point. What I find odd is that he pooed a bit yesterday and they looked a little bigger than what I'd seen before and then they suddenly he stopped pooing ahain.
I'm definitely going to talk to the vet again tomorrow.

I know how you’re feeling. When Odin was poorly after his bladder and stasis issues, his poos were very varied and intermittent. I just kept watch and informed the vet of all changes. Poop soups and probiotics seemed to do the trick in the end. And some very bumpy rides for Odin on top of the spinning washing machine (he seemed to enjoy it actually 🙈), there would always be poos after washing machine time as it got things moving.

Thank you @Bradshaw Piggies it's good to know others have had similar issues. Eddie doesn't like being moved about just in my arms if I'm shifting position so unfortunately I doubt he would enjoy sitting on the washing machine. I did ask about probiotics when we picked him up but they said he didn't need one because he's on gut stimulant.

@alpacasqueak I have just seen a poo actually. It's soft but it's a poo! 😂 Hopefully more will follow shortly. 🤞

I decided it wasn't worth bothering the vet when they're probably busy and there's nothing that could do expect say keep an eye out for them. If I don't see any more very soon I'll definitely call then.

Glad you’ve had some developments!
hope he has a better day today. Hope you are ok too

I have seen Eddie eating more hay today so that's better than yesterday already. I'm not too bad thank you, trying not to worry too much about Eddie. I never thought I'd want to see poo as much as I do right now 😂😂
I’ve been there! Memories of Odin in a playpen next to me until I was sure he had done some poos 🙈 then he was allowed back in the cage. I was a really obsessive mum. I’m sure if he could talk, he would have told me to stop watching him, on several occasions 😂

There's more poos again today! :D I think it's safe to start reducing the amount of times I'm feeding Eddie. I've given him some now and I'll give some before I got to bed but I think tomorrow I'll do one in the morning and one before I go to bed so he can eat for himself throughout the day. Does that sound like a good way to start reducing it?

It sounds like a good plan to me

Just read through this whole thread. So glad that (very very lovely) Eddie is on the mend.
