Did someone say bank holiday?

The fact they were open Friday might mean they’re open all over the bank holiday weekend. Definitely worth checking xx

I thought I remembered seeing their opening hours on Facebook and they closed Saturday at 3pm through to 8am Tuesday. Their emergency service seemed fairly good when I had to go for lily's eye in February

Dies their emergency services have access to the practice computer system as they may be happy to prescribe without seeing him, if they can see he’s recently been seen? If not, it might be worth getting them to see him, as Tuesday afternoon is still a long way off xx

No it's a separate company. Will see whether he is pooping and eating again as he was starting up during his last feed. Plan is to not wait until Tuesday if I can help it

OK so I tried Chine house on the off chance today and its emergencies only as well. He is pooping a lot more now and they are bigger and more normal looking. He's also perked up so I think we can keep him going until the vets opens.

Keep up the pooping Donald! Poor little chap and poor you having all this worry on a bank holiday weekend, fingers and paws crossed he keeps up the eating and pooping until your usual vet opens x

I forgot to mention, very late last night Donald had a very uncomfortable wee. It was bright red with a dark red spot in the middle and there wasn't a lot. First thing this morning he did quite a large wee and whilst not pain free it was completely clear of visible blood. We are thinking he perhaps passed a small stone. Given my vets were considering referring I will be on the phone to chine house as soon as they open tomorrow

I like for the fact that its much better that you have found a symptom now, although its not nice. I had a feeling it was urine related. Hope its nothing too bad 👍.

Its not always stones and if he has passed one thats really good. Maybe you need to give some glucosamine now incase the bladder wall is sore. Thats if it is that. I would be tempted to get some cystease from pets at home

I'm holding fire on throwing anything else at it just yet. Hopefully I will get in to see Craig tomorrow and he'll probably still want to run an x-ray etc to check what's going on

Hope all goes well tomorrow and there’s an emergency appointment quite early for you.
You must be beside yourself trying to deal with Donald’s mysterious issue.
Hoping to hear good news soon
Holding you in my heart

The good news he is eating for England and he also did a poop earlier that was normal length and almost back to normal thickness. Me and the hubby nearly high fived over it until hubby realised that only strange guinea pig people would do that. :lol!:

I think you could be right about a stone passing then🤞. The last day of bank holidays, and then its like, no problem I'm ok now, enjoy the few hours left. Only pigs can do this to us😐

So the wonderful Craig is on holiday and not back until tomorrow. Donald is eating really well and maintaining his weight. He had 20ml starting at 6:30 this morning and then at 8:30 I have him another 10ml. In between he was in piggy prison while I got ready for work (laundry basket with a towel in the bottom) and I came back to a clear wet patch and also 5 poops, only two of which were slightly smaller than normal. I'm confident I can keep him going until his appointment tomorrow. They are using today to get his history from my vet and did say if he needs a vet today to go to my usual as they will do the same as chine houses other vets would. Roll on tomorrow afternoon

Donald's poops are normal size and shape now. I was given a list of 4 things it could be with the most likely being stones. In again tomorrow for an x-ray. If it shows stones then likely to have surgery, if it doesn't then blood and urine testing.

As suspected, Donald has a considerable bladder stone. He is having an overnight stay at the vets where he will be round the clock syringe fed and given fluids and antibiotics to put him in the best position for surgery tomorrow. Please send Donald all your good vibes. £600 is the estimate cost.

Ouch! Chine House is so expensive isn't it?! Anselmo had two bladder stone surgeries there and recovered brilliantly so I firmly believe that Craig is a brilliant surgeon.

I've had other experiences with their nursing staff and after care if you want to discuss by PM.

Good luck Donald! Make sure you eat lots when you wake up! Hope yo don't stress too much Kelly.

Hope Donald does well in surgery and recovers quickly.
£600 is why we need those vet funds but these piggies of ours are worth it.
Hope you are bearing up too

I'm sorry you are having health issues with Donald.he is in the best place.sending positive thoughts.ive seen the area where the exotic speices are kept to recover.it is state of the art,so clean.it has been refurbished in the last 18 months.i hope the stone can be removed easily.

Thats true but £600 is a massive bill compared to what i have payed before. But anyway if the vet is good which i see he is, and its the only one good, i would pay it

Thanks Jaycey. Donald had surgery there a year and a half ago or longer now for an abscess and recovered really well so I have faith again. It was hard following losing Buddy years ago for abscess surgery there which admittedly wasn't straight forward and involved partial removal of his bowel. I will never forget the second phone call (first to tell me he was awake and doing well and the second with the bad news). I don't have time to stress about it with work at the moment as it's so busy but at least it keeps me occupied. Another night or two of working a bit later and I should have recovered the time I owe them from vets visits this week.

Donald's had his surgery and seems to be doing well. The stone had moved into his urethra so was a bit more complicated. Nurse said that Craig will call me in a little while to discuss whether he comes home tonight or whether they keep him in over night to continue feeding and pain relief etc. Obviously I want my boy home (also missing Daisy) but it's whatevers best for him

I hope Donald has a speedy recovery,Craig has been very thorough if he has removed a stone from the urethra.i hope you are ok in yourself Kelly.
