Did someone say bank holiday?

Ok so Donald's poops are softer now meaning he's looking a bit messy underneath but he's still eating by himself and taking top up feeds well. I don't believe there is a blockage but I think maybe his guts started to slow due to something causing pain. I will be trying to weigh him daily after a feeding session to see how he is getting on

When dot was in pain with her uterine tumour, and eating less, her poos went fin too and less of. I found grass to be a huge help. Then again she wasnt used to grass and see it as a treat.

Poor Donald! An undiagnosed mystery illness on a bank holiday weekend sounds like a complete nightmare, hope he keeps syringe feeding and his poops improve! But any poops are better than no poops, food in, poops out is a good sign. Hope your vet can figure out what's wrong!

Yea he's tucked into grass and dandelions. He's also had apple, celery, cucumber and pepper. It's just he will start with enthusiasm but soon stop. There's obviously some pain going on somewhere in the body but he's taking his mushed up pellets well too

Well he's starting to poop quite a bit but there is visible discomfort with it. I will continue to monitor but if his poops continue to improve but there's still clear evidence of pain I will call the vets when they open on Tuesday to see what's next and whether they are confident in finding the problem or whether they refer me over to Craig again. We will get there

I do hope the vet can identify what is wrong with Donald. Healing vibes from me and the piggies. 💕

Thanks everyone. Donald is very pleased with himself today. Mummy put on a pretty summer dress and went for lunch with friends but sat with him for a couple of hours after. He ate another 20ml of feed plus some water with probiotics in. He also ate a fresh dandelion handpicked with care by daddy. He did so many poops during his feed he wanted to show you all and they are starting to even look like poops.

Daddy picked more dandelions for his little girls but mummy put Donald back in the hutch and he barged his way to getting second helpings. Definitely nothing wrong with his appetite :))

Those are great poops, well done Donald! Puggle's poops looked like that after her acute bloat, we had no poops for 12 hours, then 2 tiny poops in 3 hours, then 6 in 2 hours... then more than 20 in an hour that looked a bit dark and pointy but whatever was causing the trouble had passed and there were too many poops to count. Keep pooping for your mummy Donald!

So Donald's taking his feed well but continuing to lose weight far too quickly :(

So sorry Kelly. Could by thyroid as @furryfriends (TEAS) suggested. Hope the investigations shed some light.

He's not weeing as much as I expected him to during feeding so could be a stone as well. Though Paula had a good feel of his bladder and it felt soft. I'm hoping that with a lot of feeding we can get him through to Tuesday and I can hopefully just take him to see Craig on Tuesday afternoon. Not sure how it will work with my work but I'll just have to tell them it's either out my annual leave or sick leave

He's eating fairly well. Ate 2-3 hard pellets from hand feeding and has taken some syringe feeding. Now eating a slice of apple. Appetite is definitely not an issue.

He's passed the world's thinnest poop too

At least now you know that the works are still working if very slowly. Have you had him checked for GI stasis? This can be secondary to other underlying problems.

Fingers very firmly crossed!

Just weighed mid feed and back up to 904g which is what he weighed in at last night around 11pm. Feel like I haven't a clue what I am doing but it must be doing him alright

Just try to keep hanging in there. Has he got gut stimulants?

He hasn't unfortunately. My mum might have in date zantac for her dog or would this be a very bad idea? I'm really hoping I can get a fairly urgent appointment Tuesday afternoon

No, it wouldn't. It is always worrying when things happen during a holiday. Have you got a 24 hour service in the city? The bank holiday surcharge is usually not a lot during day time hours, and they are usually fine if you know what to ask for.

Maybe ring the veterinary practice that you took him to on Friday and ask if they can put some gut motility drugs up for him. As they only saw him a couple of days ago, they should be able to do that, without seeing him again.

My vets isn't open until Tuesday I believe though will double check. There is a possibility of going to the 24 vet which is just down the road.

Sorry i can't offer any advice but i am thinking of you and Donald. Big hugs from me and the piggies.
