Daisy's Ovary removal

Sorry @artcasper seizures been causing trouble the last few days 🤦‍♀️ So pleased Daisy has had a drink! Really hope that appetite kicks in now and she gets scoffing for you! 🤞🤞Come on gorgeous Daisy! x

Sometimes we have to celebrate the smallest achievement. But to hear that she has decided she’s thirsty and then gone to the water bottle to get a drink is a big step. If she’s maintaining her weight then she’s obviously eating sufficient. I have everything crossed, I know how exhausted you must be x
I was so pleased... very small victory but like you say need to celebrate it! Hoping for a lie in soon! X

so pleased to hear your news! Fingers crossed!

btw I tried my Daisy on syringe food...she dashed up thinking it was Metacam, the disappointment was palpable!, .safe to say I got severe stink eye and asked why she should even consider eating such stuff...it’s going to be interesting!

Sorry not been around. one of my girls had a bad reaction to some antibiotics so been hand feeding the last few days...so stressful but I think we are turning a corner. Good practice for next week I guess.

how is Daisy today?

By the way I tried my Daisy on the syringe food, she rushed up thinking it was her metacam...oops. Its just as well we don’t understand what they are saying but safe to say syringe feeding is not going to be her number 1 favourite thing next week...I am sure she swore at me in guinea pig wheaks....

Oh dear.. I had to pop daisy in my weighing bowl as she was a wriggler... worked well for me.. you could add some of her usual pellets to the critical care to make it taste more familiar xx

So we went back to see Vet Ellie today for another check up .. I was not happy this morning when I noticed one of Daisy's wounds looked like it was open - all this time her wounds have been amazing...Ellie checked it and said it was fine - all felt secure inside kind of thing..

Daisy's weight has dropped but was the same this morning as yesterday morning.. I am carrying on syringe feeding 3 times a day for now until she starts to gain some fat - shame I don't have trouble doing this 🤣

Her 💩 are all good now after a bit of upset earlier in the week.

Thank you again to everyone for your support x

So pleased to hear she has turned a corner. It’s so stressful isnt it? But when they start to get better the relief is incredible !

Having been syringe feeding Gizmo much of the week I am now fully prepared for Daisy next week, she has been very upset that another guinea has got all the attention this week. As I have been feeding Gizmo , she climbs up the side of the cage and chatters her teeth at me until I have given her a hug too....so at least next week she will be getting the attention she loves....little does she know!

hope the weight starts to pile on your Daisy now. thanks for all your tips, it’s helped Gizmo and me a lot and reminded me of some of the important fundamentals! x

2 weeks post op.... Daisy is doing really well now.. its like she has been on an extreme diet tho for the summer body ... I dare not tell her there is no holiday this year! Here are some photos of her wounds (can't get the belly one) her fur is growing back - I miss the feel of her skin tho... I am still syringe feeding twice a day as she is eating but needs a top up as she is only 840g...

Glad that she is well on the mend now. Two large operation scars to deal with a big ask for such a small body.

The weight may not come back on for quite a while but it will happen on its own when the body is ready.

Oh I am so relieved that Daisy is feeling better and giving you less cause for concern. Onwards!

Up-Date Tuesday 8th June - Sorry been a bit MIA!

Daisy is doing very well - we had a bit of a downward turn last week - I was quite worried as she went off her food again and wasn't moving much BUT seems it was the heat ... I keep them as cool as I can and once I popped the air con on - she really perked up.. So ... all has continued to go well, her weight in staying steady at about 800g-820g - i weigh her every morning still.. I know she feels better as she now runs away from me lol! But she also comes to me every time i go near the cage as if to say ' Hi mum '... I think she secretly misses watching tv with me...

Quick update..Daisy has made a full recovery and is slowly gaining some weight back... her fur has grown back so fast! Poor thing though.. Brownie and Winny are still trying to hump her every other day 🙈🙈🙈🙈🙈
Great news about Daisy, you’ve had a long haul but lovely that she has made a full recovery x

I am so pleased to read this update. It can take them a fair amount of time to regain lost weight. Sounds like things are returning to normal !
