COVID-19 Coronavirus

Watched it (and BBC news for nearly 2 hours waiting for Boris). I'm glad something is being done, as clearly something more drastic is needed. In all honesty I've never actually made it out the first lockdown properly anyway.

I'm glad schools are staying open, although this could change at any point. I feel it is too detrimental to just pull children out of schools when this could be the first of many short lockdowns. I think work is going to get interesting now though & I'm going to be even more wary of the kids snezing/coughing/generally being near me when we finally get back.

I'm awaiting the result of a covid test. Had to order one on Thursday as my throat was worse & although I didn't have a temperature above 37.8 I was burning up. I would be shivering one minute & then felt like I was on fire the next. I just hope I did the test right!

I enjoyed having my daughter at home and she loved it, too. She was Y6, so still got plenty of work to do and we kept 9-3 routine. Which meant anything educational was banned after 3pm lol!
It was great being involved in her education and actually being able to spend more time with her than her teacher (since she's asleep most of the time she's home after school, or having to do school related stuff! ).
It was better for her to stay home as it lowered chances of us having to isolate. Now she's in secondary and her bubble is HUGE! I mean, they went from 10 in a bubble in July to grooup which is more than 15 times bigger in September!
I do not think it's good idea to keep schools opened. Especially in such a huge groups. If it was voluntary I would keep her home. But then, it took them a while to close the first time around...

I know, but it's called panic buying for a reason, and nobody thinks clearly when they're in a panic. Nobody wants to run out of essentials and be stuck indoors in isolation with no way of getting what they need, and if they can get it it may take hours. It's not selfish in the normal sense, nobody's going "we need these more than someone else", just "we need these".

As someone who lives alone with no local family or friends 8 can understand the thought process. I don't like it, but it is what it is.
I can understand why people do it. It’s also the unknown they were having to deal with. We’ve never been told to stay behind closed doors and only go out when necessary.

isn’t there a shop that recently banned people from buying too many of some things...or am I confused?
Last time round, people were worrying that stuff would run out - and it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. The retailers and suppliers couldn't get the message across that there was plenty to go round, no shortages, if people kept to their usual buying patterns. The deliveries just couldn't keep up with the sudden surge in demand. I hope this time people won't panic buy. Though just in case I added extra to my normal shops over the summer so I should have enough to last a while if necessary...

I've stopped bothering trying with supermarket deliveries - even if I can get them, the bags they provide are more like plastic sheeting and not suitable for carrying food and drink up two floors.

We are travelling up to see Simon with Ted, Mikey and Peaches for their dental appointments on Monday, it’s an early wake up at 3.00 am so hope they are open 😆 as normal.

I was clear to go as soon as my test result was back?

I'm in isolation due to contact with covid positive people so got the test due to odd symptoms & everyone I know who has tested positive haven't always had the 3 main ones. Knowing me I would be that person who develops symptoms 13 days after contact with someone, so staying in jail it is. With Mum being vulnerable it's just not worth that risk. I don't want to have to repeat the covid test again, although it will probably happen at some point...

I love how Boris said in the conference "there is no need to... stock up"

I never managed to get a delivery slot on the rare occasions I tried - just had to wait in ridiculously long queues. I usually get a delivery from Waitrose just before Christmas/my son's birthday, but I expect those slots have already gone too!

Interesting - the NHS app lifted my self isolation and sent me a message to that effect when it did. It wasn't immediately after I got the test result, but it was still on Wednesday, even after that possible contact the other week.

Usually you have to catch them a few weeks in advance which is next to useless. You're not telling me everyone who suddenly wants a delivery slot would actually need it for health reasons and that bugs me no end, because it means the people who do need it get pushed off the list. (I don't mean you specifically, obviously). It's an absolute farce at this point.

I've lived off takeaways far too frequently but sometimes I wonder if I'd get anything to eat otherwise.

I had been so hopeful that the caveat that support groups for new parents can continue and early years education can continue would mean that not all our classes would be cancelled but alas they are all going back online. The plus side is we still have things to do in the week but the downside is that Jessica just doesn't engage as well at home and always engages better when out and she can see the people running it/other parents and babies doing things. Fingers crossed 4 weeks is all we need.

Annoyingly I had booked a table for Thursday to take my mum for lunch for her birthday - cancelled. We had planned to go to the zoo for my birthday - cancelled. I was due to get my hair done - cancelled. We were due to get a new kitchen fitted - waiting for news but most likely cancelled. We were going to use our support bubble for childcare so we could go for a meal together - cancelled. I think the moral of the story is not to make plans

We made it to November. Bro is out of isolation tomorrow, I'm out on Friday. I'm so looking forward to being able to cook & wash up. Mum has been doing everything & she's still not 100%.

I'm feeling a bit flat today. I think it's just wondering what else this year can throw at us & then not thinking of that as clearly anything is possible. I suppose Boris just cancelled my driving lessons too... so annoyed with myself that I decide to it the year we get a pandemic.

*hugs* isolation can drive anyone insane 💖
Sorry for everyone that's had stuff cancelled, our baby groups never resumed to start with and lunas early years setting never went back so she's been home since March, she doesn't engage with the online groups either. But she is safe and she doesn't miss what she can't remember, she's lucky she has sisters to play with and is generally happy as Larry without a care in the world 💖

Well my hairdresser has messaged and has brought my appointment forward to Tuesday! This is fantastic news because then I don't need to feel more deflated if it goes beyond the 4 weeks which, let's face it, is highly likely. I reckon we'll be lockdowned in some form until the new year at least

Hopefully this time round I will be at work. Buses /number of children /other circumstances depending however. It will be a worry but we coped well from June when I went back to last week when covid hit work.

Pleased about your hair app. I'll have to cut my fringe & hope for best nearer Christmas, story of my hair this year!

Yes I can see the initial end date of December being extended. I think even if things go back to the tier system in Dec we will be locked down again Jan/Feb time. I can see this being the first of many lockdowns.

So went to supermarket to get bits for lunches for school, was no busier than normal for a Sunday, still busy mind but I managed to get in and out quite quickly. (Lots of loo roll!) We think this was probably our last rugby training session for a while and I'm waiting to hear if we can get one last netball session in for my daughter, normally it's on a weds evening so fingers crossed. Either way most things will still be the same for us, hubby is working from home and the rest of us will be at school.

I've spent the day scribbling out bookings in my diary. Every one of my bookings for November have now been cancelled. Looking after pets, when the owner goes on holiday, really isn't the best job right now! 😢

I've been running my business for over 10 years and have worked so hard to make it a huge success, but right now I am not sure whether I can keep it going!

Yes I feel for you. I’ve just had to cancel my holiday and therefore my lovely pet sitters booking. We have been able to move it to December, so I’m hoping they don’t extend the lockdown or put my area into tier 3 after lockdown. My pet sitter walks one of my dogs sometimes too so I have asked her to book my dog in extra to try and help her business a bit. I can’t imagine how worrying it must be for some and work etc.

I've had a few re-book for December. I really hope lockdown doesn't get extended beyond 2nd December, but Michael Gove was saying on TV this morning that they will be reviewing the situation on 2nd December, but it could be extended.

Yup I heard that too. I’ll cry!
Ah well, will have to wait and see I guess. It’s so difficult for so so many people.
Like so many others I’m desperate for a break, work is relentless at the moment- I’m a mental health nurse. We haven’t had a holiday this year yet so would really love to get away to our isolated Scotland hideout. Fingers and toes crossed.

I really hope you get a holiday soon! It's such a horrible, difficult and worrying situation xx

So Doncaster now has the highest covid infection rate in Yorkshire ☹ hopefully we can turn this around.
