COVID-19 Coronavirus

Sorry to hear, I saw the sandwich factory thing on Facebook, hope you all stay safe 💕
It's full of workers who car share, alot of them from Wellingborough, Asians and polish tend to car share alot because they tend to live in big family groups. This is what the director is saying has caused it

Northampton has topped the list of the 10 worst places for covid19 in the uk so we are on the verge of a local lockdown now, 300 workers at a sandwich factory I used to work for has tested positive in a very short amount of time
I really hope we don’t have a lockdown as my business has only just started to recover and I’ve stuck to the rules from the start. I’m seeing my daughter for the first time since 15th March, tomorrow. Obviously with more testing, more cases will be found, which is why we are in this position.

It's a shame, fingers crossed we manage to not go into local lockdown. But apparently we are worse than Oldham which I read was quite bad at the moment.

Atleast greencore are private testing on site

I bet if you tested everyone in lots of factories and warehouses you’d find lots test positive!

I'm a little confused.

They have changed the way covid-19 deaths are recorded. Just watching news now & it stated about the 800+ new cases & 16 deaths. Under the deaths number it stated "deaths for any reason within 28 days of a positive test". So for example, if I tested positive for covid19 on the 2nd September, recovered & was then hit by a bus on the 27th Sept - they would still put my death down to covid19 because it is within 28 days of a positive test even though death was due to the bus?! Or have I misunderstood?!

No you are right. My grandad caught coronavirus but died from other problems. But I don't know if he went down as one of the corona virus death counts. It was on his death certificate as 1 of 4 causes though

That's right. It didn't have a time limit before

So results could still be skewed?!

Yes but it's going to be more accurate now than it was before. I would hate to be the person having to decide who gets counted and who doesn't

Me too. It was something that crossed my mind after watching the news. Hopefully some form of common sense will prevail as they count etc.

We braved meeting my 4 year olds best friend and her family for a socially distanced walk and picnic today, first time we've met anyone since lockdown started 😳 here's my small humans all masked up :)

Anxiety has kicked in!
My uncle juust came to drop me a cucumber off that he'd grown very kindly he put it next to the door and stepped two metres away, then I opened the door he stepped forward and passed it to me, I mainly closed the door and just put my hand out, he then said 'I darent come in I have an awful headache and sore throat' whyyyyyy are you out of the house! Also we aren't letting anyone in anyway. He sounded very snotty and had just come home from work and didnt mention a cough so I'm hoping he has a cold since runny nose is uncommon with covid but I've disinfected the hell out of the cucumber and my hands 🤦‍♀️ am I worrying for no reason? The closest we were was my outstretched arm, his outstretched arm and the length of a cucumber 🤦‍♀️ xx

I'm afraid it's impossible to give an answer that will 100% reassure you ...but , please remember most countries are advising 1metre distance is adequate...especially outdoors. And ....
I had a really nasty cold and sore throat last month and had a COVID test which came back negative .

Thankyou I also had one which was negative for headache and sore throat 😊 I was also careful not to face him and was rather annoyed he'd stepped back only to step forward and take me by surprise 😲 oh well nothing I can do now I've already washed everything, I have a snotty nose myself so not so worried about catching a cold I looked through the peep hole to make sure he was back too 🤦‍♀️ xx

I know what you mean . I'm constantly saying "2 metres" to my hubby as he automatically migrates towards people.

Its so frustrating my uncle had said before that other than work (he delivers for a supermarket) they have beeen isolating etc so why he stepped forward I have no idea 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ though I think the person who leaned over me in b and m put me more at risk lol xx

Though considering he'd just bbeen at work he must not have covid symptoms I can't imagine a big supermarket allowing their drivers to deliver while unwell 🤦‍♀️ xx

I'm feeling rubbish today, I don't know if it's lack of sleep or if I'm coming down with something I don't have a cough or temp and I can definitely smell and taste I just feel run down and achy and like I'm getting a cold, sams had a cold though (again no cough and temp but he did have a headache and felt run down) so hopefully it's just tiredness or his cold but I'm constantly sanitising and wearing a mask to breastfeed, i can't reduce contact from my children but I'm keeping 1m+ from Sam to the best of my ability just incase. I'm hoping I feel a lot better tomorrow but I'm doing my best to reduce contact regardless even if no covid specific symptoms it can't hurt 💖

Hope you feel better soon! It sounds like you are very run down! Take care x

I can't quite believe (ok that's a big lie) that the Dept of Education released further guidance at 11pm yesterday, just a few days before schools are due to open to all students!

Then you get Jenny Harries with her comment about face masks. I feel like the Government lost a lot of people a long time ago (maybe with the Dominic Cummings fiasco) and not sure how this will impact the situation in winter, with localised lockdowns & restrictions etc.

I'm wondering too how it will go at work. As we get closer to the colder weather we will have children with colds/coughs, often with temperatures. Currently they get sent straight home & are required to prove a negative covid test. With how things spread in early years I have a feeling everyone will repeatedly be off awaiting test results!

I've found my covid related anxiety to be under control recently. I'm trying to take it day by day & just get through each week. With everything going on at home/my eyes etc I'm trying to look after myself best I can (so of course my 3am wake up has decided to come back!)

Unless you are from Leicester in which case schools had already started back. My niece started on Wednesday

Thankyou i just wish primary kids were allowed to wear masks I'd feel much better, also much sooner isolate for a cold than risk spreading or catching covid! 💖

Well, today was interesting.

I ended up being 5 minutes late for my injection appointment because I overshot 2(!) alarms, then misread the time, then the taxi took slightly longer than expected to turn up...and then the traffic was absolutely horrendous. With all the kids back to school it was like a free-for-all on the roads. And then when I got to the surgery there's a guy there with a mask over his mouth but not his nose.

Now, none of the staff questioned it so I'm assuming he had good reason to not be covering his nose with a mask but then is there any point in wearing one just over the mouth? That's a genuine question heh, but it feels like it's pointless to wear one at that point.

nope - there is no point in someone wearing a mask just over their mouth

I had to challenge someone today as they lowered their mask to talk to me

He was there when I arrived, spoke to 3 different people with the mask like that, and when I was waiting outside for a taxi I saw him drive off with the mask still only covering his mouth. Just...take it off if that's the case for crying out loud.

The mask situation is a nightmare, sadly few people wear it correctly.
What's worse is the utter lack of respect from other parents at my child's school... 0 social distancing they literally barge past you or stand elbow to elbow because the playground isn't big enough to accommodate parents any other way 😒 already spoke with the headteacher about concerns but I see nothing been done 🤦‍♀️
