COVID-19 Coronavirus

Sorry guys I know people have much worse issues than this, but my boyfriend and I (who have been together for 5 years) have decided it's best we stay at or own places for the next how ever many weeks or months. I feel so ridiculously stupid because I know people have such worse issues. but I don't think any of us expected our lives to change so drastically. I'm just so upset and worried about this whole thing, and not even for my own sake, it's for the people around me. I mean only 2 months ago it wasn't even in the UK.

I hope everyone stays well, and lets all use this forum as a place of sanity and unity in this time. The internet is going to be a wonderful place these next coming months ❤

OK so I've just seen that anyone who receives the flu jab in adult life should social distance, I recieve the flu jab due to being diabetic on insulin, what exactly does this mean? My children are still attending school etc and I'm alone with them at night and evening so can't stay in a seperate room... Sam has to go to work as I can't afford him to have 2 weeks isolation now to then catch the virus/ one of us starts showinng symptoms and need another 2 weeks... All playgroups and cinemas etc locally have shut so it's pretty much just food shops, school and work/ vet trips that we are leaving the house for, will that be OK do you think?

Well Laura ashley looks like it's going to go under, that's one of our works contracts lost then... If we lose wickes and Travis perkins I won't have a job. Mental times

Wickes own Travis perkins 😕.

The good thing is, my wife is a primary school teacher, so she pretty much can't lose her job like I can, unless sacked

We have papa John's aswell, that won't be doing well. Who wants a £20 pizza when everyone is eating pasta and rice

So far, all schools are closed, all universities are closed, restaurants and bars are closed.
We are not allowed to hold gatherings of more than 10 people. So, pretty much all places where people gather are ordered to close.
I feel like I am living in a ghost town when I go out to pick up something.

Urgs I got into a debate on Facebook because someone can't understand the harm in sharing misinformation. It's someone I barely know and haven't met in person, can't remember how we ended up friending on Facebook. When it's less obvious I will be deleting them because I can't be dealing with the stupidity of "I'm only sharing, people can make their own minds up". Said post is signed off "John Greenwoods niece". I just keep getting told now that it's come through her brothers work and not Facebook chainmail... So therefore must be correct

A lot of children here are staying off school and are now hanging around the shopping centres in small gangs, not sure how that helps!

It's worse isn't it. It's exactly why schools aren't shut yet. In school there may be a high number of children but it's the same people day in, day out so controlled in a way. These same kids go and spend the day in a shopping centre and potentially pass to a larger number of people or put themselves more at risk of getting it. Surely if you are worried about your child contracting covid-19 then you shouldn't be letting them go and hang out in the shopping centre especially if you are too worried to send them to school

Schools should close I think, but then you have nurses with kids that have no one to look after them. Theres no best way to do anything. It's all screwed

My thoughts exactly.

I feel I am getting a bit stir crazy with this voluntary self-isolation.
I am only in contact with people when absolutely necessary.

l have seen on FB that in (I think) Bristol, the med students (who are DBS checked) will be providing child care to NHS staff and other critical staff.

I bet you are. I'm in a hotel on my own but not isolating, and feel like I'm going mad. I don't feel well cooped up in Wales. I want to be at home

Well, the Huns, the Vandals, the Goths, the Mongols, the Tartars and the Turks have all been and gone at the local supermarket.
I left a rather disconsolate student in uncontested possession of the very last single carrot and the other two remaining peppers.

This is my piggy veg haul for 26 piggies for 3 days! Lawn, here we come...

All I can say it's that's terrible, and best of luck to you. Honestly all of you on here, best of luck with the pets. I can't even do this, I hate my job, lawn here I come too I think soon.

If anyone sees my in your garden with a face mask and gloves, with a pair of scissors, I'm not a bad guy honestly, I just have hungry guinea pigs

My daughter has type 1 diabetes and we received this update from her consultant today :

"At the moment – the recommendation is for ‘social distancing’ rather than self isolation if you have type 1 diabetes and you have no symptoms or household contacts with anyone who could have the illness.

We think it is a sensible precaution to follow the guidance on ‘social distancing’ . With the exception of school…this should limit your chances of picking up the virus."

Children with diabetes have no need to stay home from school if they are well.

I hope that is some help to you thinking over your situation x

Thankyou this is a huge help! So I will stay home, Sam will do the school runs and of course go to work, he can do any necessary shopping also and any vet trips doctors trips etc (though with the exception of what's already booked I hope we don't have any!) 💕 I will still walk the dog but I'll keep my distance 😊 thankyou for the help!

Yes please don't confuse social distancing and isolation. Isolation is avoiding all contact with everyone. Social distancing is to avoid unnecessary contact and travel. It's not bad advice at all. I'm on maternity leave and now in the high risk group so social distancing it is. I took the dog for a walk earlier to get out and get some exercise. I wanted to go to the butcher's but hubby insisted he should go instead. Obviously I still need my midwifery appointments though they happen at home and if I go overdue I will need to attend hospital but other than that I don't intend to mix with people. Sadly this means not going to visit a friend who ended up having their leg amputated suddenly a couple of weeks back.

I'm sorry about your friend 💕 vibes that you have smooth rest of pregnancy and delivery 🤰❤️

Don't suppose you'd like some more reusables? Sorting out after our move, I found a box of reusables I'd put to one side after my youngest outgrew them, then forgot about them  . You'd be most welcome to have them, they're not a lot of use to me now ... :xd:

Thank you for the offer that's very kind of you. Not sure I'd they will be of much use to me to be honest. I have been given a lot of newborn ones so have about 20 nappies to tide me over for the first 6 months and then around 15 birth to potty size. So, unless baby doesn't get on with some of the styles, I should be sorted. However there is a cloth nappy library network and may be one near you, they often do rental schemes so people can try them out before buying any new

Ridiculous, why can't people just use a bin for anything that shouldn't be flushed
Cause stupid people think once its out of sight it's out of mind. Until they flush and the toilet bowl water rises over the seat. London will have the biggest issue here with all the fat burgs.

The worst part is, people in upstairs flats won't be affected, the ground floor will have a flooded bathroom when the backed up sewage waste comes up through the loweest part of the house, the bath plug hole. Which is what almost happened to mine a month ago

The people in upstairs flats will be affected though. Come next March when the additional costs of dealing with all this is added to everyone's bills.
