COVID-19 Coronavirus

Haybox now have a message that while they have plenty in stock, delivery might take 7 days...!

We've got a month's supply of Haybox in already, plus 2 bags of back-up pillow wad meadow, I just ordered some back-up science selective timothy from Amazon... plus I have 2 boxes of hay cookies and 4 haycubes stashed upstairs... and I'm growing some grass and herbs... I think my piggies will survive the pandemic food shortage apocalypse just fine!

Oh god, I haven’t even started doing my online shop yet, fingers crossed there’s a couple of slots or I’ll be running down to the Lidl down the road before it shuts at 10pm and there’s no one there to grab some things for my bare cupboard and freezer!
Nope, can’t get a home delivery from Asda until 29th and not from local Iceland until next week! Looks like I’m sneaking out at 11pm when hopefully everyone’s at home :doh:So much for self isolating!

I'm sure they will! I have a 10kg bag of burgess nuggets (always buy as more cost effective and lasts months), I'm growing grass and herbs, I have some forage and plan to order more on payday, I have around 7.5kg of Orchard hay and 4ish of timothy with 9kg on order, half a bag of hay cookies I think we are good here 🤣

is there a 24 hour supermarket near you ? I bet people will be going out at 3am in the hope of some supplies!

I have got more stuff stashed for the pigs than i have for the kids :inn:

I will, she's getting her molars so currently doing about 5💩 a day, but we can survive without wipes in an emergency 😊
aww poor thing.... its awful when they suffer with teething and all the problems that come with it 💩 .. Hope you manage!

Yes the Asda not far away so think I’ll sneak there as hopefully not many people around! Or I’ll starve!
that's the issue isn't it... luckily food is still available everywhere i have been although you have to fight through the crowds to get some! Good luck!

Thanks! Yes I’m hoping all the crazy shoppers will have tired themselves out fighting for loo rolls earlier on! :)) I’ll see later!

I just ordered a 2.5kg of Timothy from hay box, to my mum's house, I left a note saying leave on step if no answer. My dad is 70 so might be isolating

Haha sounds like a good plan! The stink bombs not baby oil, I’d forget where I squirted it and fall over myself!

Just at the ends of the aisle, then jump over when your finished. I'm only joking, wouldn't want to see an old lady go flying, o wait flying is banned.

You courlr literally put a spot of it on the floor and everyone would go flying

And just to say that there really is hope if people are sensible.
Schools here shut on Friday and as of last night all shops, bars, restaurants, gyms, and leisure facilities are also closed.
The only things open are essential shops like supermarkets, pharmacies, banks and post offices.
All public transport serviced will be cut by 50% by Friday.
All borders are either closed or being closely monitored.

This morning I made a meal plan with the kids and popped ot the local supermarket. It was almost empty (of people) and people were keeping a safe distance from others, and there was plenty of everything except toilet roll. Pasta was a little limited and the tinned goods isle was being restocked while I shopped.

I only saw one woman clearly 'hamster buying' (it's a German phrase), and at the till the girl did question whether she really needed so many tins of fish and soup. She looked a little sheepish and agreed to put some back. Everyone else looked ot have a normal amount of supplies in their trolleys.

My husband was a different shop in another part of Switzerland this morning (he is away for work right now) and assured me it is a similar situation there.
So I think it will calm down. People will realise that this is not a short term thing and will start to feel a bit stupid when they step back and look at how they are storing more stuff than they could ever possible use.
I think it will be ok.

Timothy hay UK have an announcement on their website that they are in no danger of running out but due to the large amount of orders there's a delay on delivery, I have just ordered a bag of timothy since they only last around 2 weeks to account for delivery delay and I mainly have Orchard hay here I'm over half way through my timothy bag 💕

Effies food arrived today too so I have no worries about pet supplies, I am very low on baby wipes though with none to be found 😔
I know its more expensive but could simple facial wipes be used in an emergency? They're about £1.50 for 25 facial wipes but they're for even the most sensitive skin so hopefully would be suitable for use in an emergency. Just a thought if you get very desperate x

I have noticed when I'm shopping now, everyone is looking to see what you have in your basket

Old ladies are banned too, they're on strict instructions to stay home and get drunk and force their family to bring them gifts, good for them! Hope people are taking care of those with no family around, certainly piggy daddy's evening job as a care assistant for eldery and disabled people is in very high demand, that will be useful for us and for his elderly clients if the schools close and he loses his daytime work!

Thankyou I'll use towels or put her in the bath in an emergency 😊 I haven't seen any face wipes lately either

I know people are panic buying face wipes and baby wipes to wipe their own bum holes, I cannot wait until they're drains block ( which will be very fast) and the local plumbers are all in isolation. Screwed

I’ll be honest - I doubt it would make much difference. The best thing to do is simply to carry on as normal and maintain extra hand washing. There is no evidence that piggies are at increased risk unless you personally contract the illness. If you do, then it would be best to self isolate away from everyone and everything and ask another member of the family to care for them for you,
There's literally no other room in our house I could isolate in. It's a simple two up two down, I'm just gonna have to keep the room ventilated should I get it, and cover all sneezes/coughs like I usually would
