COVID-19 Coronavirus

Whilst everypig is stock piling, the elderly and immuno supressed, are at greatest risk.not always able to get to shops ,have no family.it is the vunerable that need most support with this.i saw fights going on in a superstore today over toilet rolls.maybe rationing needs to be started .i went into work to find no toilet rolls,no sanitiser......all because they had been pinched, how low can people get.whilst the patients and nurses are trying to care for people .it is going to be a real effort for everyone to work together and help less fortunate people.its not my problem mentality needs to stop.

You know the pharmacy shelves in Sainsbury/Tesco etc have been empty of ibuprofen & paracetamol for weeks?

Lidl. They have tons. You're welcome.

Ibuprofen stocks have been low since October. There is an ongoing supply issue with them already before all this covid-19 stuff. That said I was able to get some last week in Wilko for the hubby (I can't take it due to pregnancy otherwise would have a stash at all times)

The point made about donating something to a food bank is very valid. Also helping any elderly folk with shopping to prevent them from being left behind, especially with all the panic buying going on. Vulnerable people really struggle during a crisis. I'm shopping for an elderly neighbour at the moment so she can keep her stocks up but not panic buying or stock piling. I live by myself though and am able to help. Its difficult for families too, especially with small children.

if it helps any, @Emx93 I'm sure the members here would be more than willing to help people out if we needed to in a dire situation. This forum is widespread and built on caring, so I can only imagine people will step up if anyone needed help.

That's lovely to hear and I'm sure everyone would but providing shops have food in them we will be fine 😁 it's the stockpiling making me nervous we buy food weekly on an as needed basis (except bread and milk which we need to replenish almost daily with lots of hungry tummies to feed)

I understand it must be a big worry if you have children. I don't have family but I do have a number of rabbits and guinea pigs and am working out how I will feed them in different situations but with children to think about...that's a big concern.

3 children, 4 piggies, 2 cats, 1 dog and 1 tortoise, 1 piggie and 1 cat with ongoing health issues on long term meds, so my two worries are feeding the kids if the shops have no food and access to vet care/medication if they close vets

Hope you feel well soon, we all have a bit of cold here nothing unusual for the time of year though 😊
I feel alright now, I'm a bit run down on night shift outdoors in the cold and wet at the moment.

Surely there has to be some animal welfare laws? Unless ofcourse the vet gets coronavirus

I hadn't thought about our vets! They are in close proximity to different people all day. Oh blimey!

I would imagine vets would remain open as long as they could, they all care just like we do, I can't imagine my vets shutting shop unless they had absolutely no choice and even then, movement restriction hard enough to prevent us getting to the vets if needed is deeply unlikely in this country given the overall approach of "some of you are going to die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make" from Johnson and co.

If we go the way italy has then we will be fined if caught outside if it isn't an emergency, but good luck with that, il have my face covered and my best running shoes on 🏃😂

Did my weekly food shop this evening and noticed that the supermarket was sold out of: ibuprofen, toilet roll, handwash, tuna and pasta. So obviously everyone round here is planning to live on tuna pasta bakes and thus spend the rest of the time sat on the loo (but thankfully washing their hands after...!) Sorry to be flippant for those who are getting worried (I don't take the inevitable upswing in cases/potential fatalities/increased risk to family members lightly), but I do find it interesting what people are panic buying... All the tuna gone (which I can't stand anyway) but plenty of corned beef left. And no shortage of baked beans or tins of soup - not yet anyway. Re: the toilet roll shortage I had flashbacks earlier to Izal tracing paper toilet tissue - thankfully it is no longer made; I'd rather have newspaper squares on a string than Izal!

The Tesco near us has pretty much sold out of baked beans. And the toilet paper side was completely empty today! Pasta has been nonexistent since Sunday. A lot of ride has sold out as well (the small packets). Ridiculous!

Yes - there was a long, empty aisle where the toilet paper used to be! I advised an irritated woman who just wanted one pack of loo roll that there was plenty of kitchen roll left if she was desperate... Actually that probably wasn't very tactful of me but she seemed to take it in good spirit!

I'm in a hotel tonight, no one is at the desk, and I have no toilet paper, so I had to buy a kitchen roll, only thing is, kitchen roll will block drains very easily. If you use kitchen roll, flush often to get it through the waste pipe.

Just realised, a hotel is probably one of the worst places to be right now

In Ontario, Canada here... going into March Break (one week scheduled vacation) and have just been told that schools will not reopen for an additional 2 weeks after that (April 5.) Supposedly we do not have much community spread here yet, but at the same time they are not testing people without a travel history so how would they know? My youngest had a respiratory flu-like illness and then passed it to me- neither of us were offered a COVID-19 test. Half her class was off sick last week, so either they have spread they aren't catching or a coincidental flu outbreak at the same time. So we are battening down the hatches for the next three weeks at least. And people are hoarding toilet paper here too for some reason.

It's going round now that it could be biological warfare, no ones actually knows.🙄

Here in Kentucky schools have just been shut down for the next 2 weeks and they are going to send lessons home for kids and some online work too. I’m not sure my kids will survive two weeks stuck in the house together, they will kill each other! I guess I am glad they are taking steps to try to prevent a huge outbreak. I think there are 11 confirmed cases in the state and 5 cases in Ohio (which is about 10 minutes from me). There is not one roll of toilet paper in any store around here. I just got a shipment of hay and pellets and I stocked up on veggies for the piggies. I’m really not sure how scared or not scared I should be, there is so much conflicting information. Are schools and businesses closing where everyone else lives?

A friend working for the US CDC, Center for Disease Control, has sent me ways to test for Coronavirus at home.

In the privacy of you own home, you can test to see whether you have COVID-19 or not.

1, Breath deeply and hold your breath for more than 10 seconds. If you can’t hold your breath for at least 10 seconds, or cough while holding your breath, or have pain in your chest while holding your breath, then you should see a doctor because there is a chance you have Coronavirus and you have Fibrosis.
2, Don’t wait until your fever is accompanied by dry cough because if your symptoms are obvious, your lungs are more than 50% compromised with Fibrosis. It might be too late to save you when the symptoms are too obvious.

Ways to minimize COVID-19 from getting into your system.

1, Drink water often because even if COVID-19 gets into your mouth, it will be washed away by water and sent to your stomach. Nothing can survive in your stomach because of Acid in your stomach, not even COVID-19.
2, Drink water every 15 minutes and never allow your mouth to be very dry.

It's If or more like when the government force us to isolate why people are stocking up on toilet paper. No other reason. Self isolation maybe, but that means people can still bring you supplies and just put it on your door step and ring the doorbell.

With governemt lock down we will all have to isolate unless going to a pharmacy.

Apparently we in the UK are 4 weeks behind Italy or 2 weeks some are saying. So we need to get this undercontrol before then. else will will probably be in lock down, but that's up to Boris. I need to act fast in what to do, but can't, as I'm stuck in Wales in a bloddy hotel room.. Powerless. I'm home tomorrow and then il sort things

Saying we are so many weeks behind Italy is maddening though because we have the opportunity NOT to follow the same pattern, don't we!

Unlike Italy, we have the chance to actually see what happens if you don't close your schools etc at this stage - and it's 1000+ deaths and overwhelmed hospitals.

We COULD avoid this if this stupid government would only act now 🙄
