COVID-19 Coronavirus

All we can do is follow the advice and hope our governments take the social distancing options at the correct time to reduce the curve and hopefully delay the virus infections enough to spread them out. This photo sort of says what countries now seem to be trying to do and timing is key... we just have to trust those in power and that is difficult to do...

I am worried about my mom and mother in law 80 and 75 respectively and both with underlying health issues.
Sending love to everyone x

Re the loo roll shortage.
The solution is to go and panic buy newspapers so you have a stockpile to cut up in squares, hang on a string and use.

That’s what people used to do.
The days of wiping my bum on newspaper when we ran out! Ah, working class childhood :)) 50p electric meter also.

No panic buying here, although people are not going out and about as much.
The only real change (as far as I can see) is that the kids are no longer expected to shake their teachers hand at school, and they had to do an excercise in maths class today to work out if it was physically possible for all of their desks to be placed the recommended 2 meters apart.
Apparently the answer was 'no', but the lesson was fun.

One better, TVs with a meter on the back which always ran out just as you got to an exciting part of the program/film! XD
Really?!? Wow! Where they rented? Mom and dads tv was rented I think. Great big wooden thing with tiny screen

This coronavirus right it was leak out of a scientist place just read it ! Scary ! Bloody government ! They know what they are doing !

Getting very worried, as no sick pay for me, as I am self employed, but also I am now starting to get cancellations on petsitting bookings, as people aren't feeling confident about travelling!
Same here & out of contract. I've around 2-3 months in hand and then I'm a bit stuffed. The addition problem I have is IR35 where lots of clients have put blanket bans on Ltd company contractors. Great time to reduce the flexible workforce eh!? Pretty dire but I'm keeping positive 😊 all else fails I'll start making things & selling them on ebay 🤷‍♀️

Not to derail but just had a close look at your avatar and I’m in love

We all know and love people who are older or have underlying health problems.
My mother is turning 80 years old this summer, too; and I have several friends that are (or whose partners are) at a high risk. :(

The more we can spread out the wave of infection, the better can our health services cope with the severe cases and can hopefully keep the number of deaths lower - they have all got people who'll love and miss them.

It is a very difficult balance act to manage for the various governments.

How is flu vaccine going to help against corona? In terms of symptoms? They're two different viruses. Only read it'll help healthcare in a way they won't have to look after so many flu patients so can focus on corona patients. Unless I have outdated info, don't watch it so closely.

Imagine the chaos if there was a nuclear attack going

Not good! 😔

What worries me is, I travel everywhere in UK
I wouldn't worry about that, if you're going to come into contact with it, you'll get it where ever, even in your local supermarket. Just joe a good quality hand sanitizer on you for travel, and wash your hands as priority when ever you get to your destination. Sorry don't mean to sound patronising as I'm sure you do this already, but nothing like a bit of reinforcement 🤣

At least you travel everywhere in the UK sand not around the world, if you do get it, you've got the amazing health care services of the UK, and not some makeshift hospital bed somewhere else in the world.

Out of curiosity everyone. I know it's unlikely for corona to jump another boundary from me to my pigs, but my girls are in my bedroom and so distancing is difficult should I get the virus. As long as I'm not handling them, is this okay? Or is there something else I can do to further protect them? Moving them to another room in the house isn't possible as we have a large dog downstairs and the only other room is my parents bedroom upstairs.

Those with lower immune systems are generally offered the flu vaccine and I'm assuming that, even for those at risk, it will be easier to fight the virus if you don't have flu as well

There is still no evidence of coronavirus passing to any animals

Can't get sanitiser unless I become the rock from wwe, and do a people's elbow on a crowd of sheep in tesco, and also there's no toilet paper left in the whole shopping centre. Looks like il have to shop in Wales today and not Northampton 😂

I'm not worried worried, just a little concerned maybe, but apart from that I don't give a dam, it sjust babies, and old people and low immune people I feel for

Try co-ops I've found they seem to be really well stocked! Looks like babies have s better chance of fighting it than the older generation atm. Anyone that's meant to fight it will though 🤞

My worry is what if your family is quarentined but one of the animals needs a vet urgently, how do you get them there if your not allowed in public places?

Our Tesco has been out of pasta for days! 🤨 Hand gel is also sold out (now limited to five each), and hand wash. Makes you wonder if people haven’t been washing their hands in the past... and yesterday there was quite a lot of toilet paper sold out. I worry because myself and two of my children are asthmatic. But I hope that we’d be able to fight it off.

I just bought toilet paper at the weekend so we’re ok for now.
