Specialist Cocoa Poorly Lip And Congested. Pls Help. Photos

No, not metacam just baytril & isathal cream for her lip. I’m not sure the isathal is doing much to be honest xx

If her lip is swollen and causing her some pain then I would ask the vet for Metacam. It will help with the pain but also it's an anti-inflammatory and will help with the swelling.

Sorry guys not a good update. I got home from work and i think whateva is going on with her mouth seems to be on her top lip now. I can't be sure yet as I'm not wanting to stress her out so will wait till Kath returns from parent evening and can have a good look.
I'm sorry but the vet said a scratch or a bump well I'm now not happy as I think that was a very wrong call.
Cocoa in her self is great eatin normally and weight is good shes normal in everyway. 20180320_204950.webpThis taken 9pm. She back to vets at 9.30 am.
I'm stressin a bit now as I trusted the vet and was not the piggie vet but a senior other and my girl is not right.
Wish I could take a photo but she's happy at the moment.
@Hoppity.K will be very forceful and get answers. Has anyone a idea what it is. Her lips seen to be losin hair around. Hope I'm 100% wrong. Very sad Dave. xx

Dave I don't think it has got to her top lip. The bottom lip does appear to be a bit more swollen than it was. I hope the vet can get to the bottom of what the problem is. Is she on Metacam?

no she on Baytril and bit eye cream for her lip but we put some on and it gets wiped off straight away. x. I was wrong as I agree it's does not appear on her top.
Just her tash allowing her into the stripy club.

Metacam is a pain killer and anti inflammatory so may be worth asking the vet about it. Most piggies are Metacam junkies. When Christian was on it for a week I only had problems giving it to him the first night then after that he was looking for it!

Poor little mite. Let us know how she gets on at the vets today David. It could be, if her lower lips is swollen so much, that is is just pushing on her upper lip and making it appear swollen too.

Thanks Ruth I’m taking her to the vets at 9.30 (it’s half hour drive away) so I’ll let you know how we get on. She’s such a super gentle girly she needs to get better soon x

Little Cocoas now off baytril & on metacam. 0.4ml once daily for 7 days. She’s maintained her weight & her chest has cleared. (Weight today 1107) But lip is still swollen. Vet said teeth are fine. Swelling not going down & has got worse, from corner to middle of mouth. To be honest this was a senior vet but he seemed bit baffled. The other two girls are fine. Another vet appt booked for next Tuesday. 8335BC13-A691-40B3-8A57-7C725CB48E87.webp

Pleased to hear her chest has cleared.
Wonder if she has a splinter of sharp hay in her lip?

I be very suprised if she had a splinter but it's a good point.
She is eating normal biccys hay and her veg food and shows no sign of pain.
I've tried to put cream on and she's only once moaned a little once but she moans when weight or pick up. xx. But I will ask next time if it's the same.

yes put a couple bits on.
the stuff vet gave us is same price as gold. lol. View attachment 830093gms. lol. like a free sample you get from a department store. x
I thought my vet had lost her medicine as it bearly covered the base of the bottle! I carefully syringed it up and it was just under three and a half mls! Phoned and was told that was enough for the course! Just made it!
