Chester

I feel so bad. Chester is booked in on the 9th June to be neutered.

I don’t want him to have an operation.
I don’t want him to be scared at the vets.
I don’t want him to be at the vets all day.
I don’t want him to think I’ve abandoned him.

Usually I can keep my anxiety in check but this is starting to really stress me.

I’ve always felt strongly that I wouldn’t get a dog neutered, but Chester only has one testicle. He will have to have a scan to find where the retained one is and it will have to be removed from his abdomen. So not even a straight forward neuter.

Poor Chester and poor you!
A friend of mine has got a dachshound who had to be neuteted for the same reason. Everything worked out fine.
Maybe you can stay with him till he's sleeping?

You are doing what is best for your boy, there is always apprehensions with things like this but these are steps we have to take.
My girl got spayed when she was young and I was terrified, I can not say she enjoyed being there, but I know it was best for her.
I have just looked through this thread and I can tell how loved he is, he knows his mum will be back for him.

More recently my little piggy Digby had to go under GA for investigation, and I was terrified of him being alone and thinking I left him, I also struggle with anxiety so my brain went through the same motions as yours, but I know my vets are great and I know I did this in his best interests. He just got extra cuddles and treats when he came home.

In most cases, atleast my own, these thoughts will not go away easily but keeping reminders like such in your head can help.
Your boy is gorgeous and I wish him the best for his operation, bless him, take care of yourself aswell x

The mixed emotion of proud and also sad that Mr. Fish foot (?) is no longer.

What type of dog is chester? He is just the cutest:wub:

He’s a border terrier. He’s such a sweetie. We got him after our 16.5 year old border Eddie passed of a brain tumour.

This dragon with a foot? was the noisiest toy he had so I can’t say I’m sorry it’s gone to toy heaven. 🤣

BUT his best friend Ruby Roo has two of these toys so may donate one 🤦🏻‍♀️

I can't give one of my boys anything with a squeak in it! He does look quite disappointed!

I thought it was a chicken! 😆 Chester looks quite pleased with himself and you’ll be living the “quiet” dream now!

Poor boy is back home after his castration this morning. Nurse said he was a very good boy. He’s sleeping off the anaesthetic. I’m glad that’s over and done with. He had to have two cuts as they had to find his retained testicle. But it wasn’t too tricky to find.

Aw chester you brave boy, fingers crossed everything heals nicely.

Loads of treats are coming your way, I am sure of it ;)

Good luck with the dental. How old is he? I’d love more pictures of your boys. What are their names and ages?
