Betsy's Guinea Pigs

The piggies have had a duvet day today as I have been out seeing friends. I think Thea has been asleep most of the day. She was in EXACTLY the same spot in the hay tray when I got back this afternoon as she was when I left this morning. I checked on them all this morning and when Thea didn't come out for breakfast, I was a bit worried the Bridge may have called her name overnight as she was 7 in January. She complained like mad when I took off her massive hay hat so I put some pellet breakfast right next to her and put her hay hat back and left her be. This afternoon she didn't come out for the dindins call so I went to investigate again and she was in exactly the same spot as this morning so I put some veg in the hay tray and left her to eat her dinner. Misty and Bramble were dashing around the hutch not knowing which bit of veg to pick up as usual. Then I heard veggie munching from the hay tray. Thea is an old gal and is allowed to sleep all day.

Just weighed Thea. She has lost 106g in 2 weeks. I am hoping this is due to stress caused by the bonding then coming back home and having to share her hutch with Misty and Bramble. I'll keep an eye on it and weigh her daily for a while.

Thea had her weigh in and health check this morning. While her weight is still a bit low for my liking, she passed her health check with flying colours. I've just ordered some Emeraid Sustain which should arrive on Thursday. She is happy enough, sleeping, eating doing usual bimbly piggy stuff. When it arrives, I'll pop the other 2 in the run and keep Thea in the hutch so she can chomp away on the Emeraid.

Great idea! Glad Thea is ok

Thea thoughts this morning:-

"Come on Slave hurry up and give me my yummies! I don't care if you're stirring a bit more water in because my yummies was too thick to go up the syringe! I'll have to let you know I want it. As I'm far too dignified to slurp it up from the bowl, I'll just stretch my head over the bowl and start having a go at the side of the syringe and then you, stupid Slave, will get the message. OOOOOOO YUM! It worked then. This is lovely stuff you know, may I have some more?"

This afternoon I found Misty and Thea having a snuggle together. It's the first time since the bonding that I've found them like this. Usually Misty chases Thea out of anywhere she wants to be with a bit of a nip causing Thea to immediately submissive wheak.

I just happened to be in the garage when Bramble approached Thea and gave her a quick eye lick this morning:wub:. I've not seen her do that before. I think this means that Bramble has accepted her into the herd now. What with Misty and Thea snuggling up yesterday and Bramble eye licking today, I think that they are all finally friends.

Aww it’s so lovely to hear that they girls are getting along and Thea has accepted them

I weighed and checked all piggies this morning. Thea has put some weight on, although she is still not back to her original weight. I only gave her one syringe feed yesterday to see if she would maintain which she did so I am happy with that. Bramble is now nearly 900g and Misty is a chonky 1100g! They all passed their health checks with flying colours.

I always give them morning cuddles and Thea and Misty were almost asleep while I was cuddling them and were like puddle piggies. Bramble is much to energetic to even think about being a puddle piggy. She puts up with a cuddle after her morning groom (almost tangle free today) as she has places to go and things to sniff out and eat.
