Bann's eye

Thank you. The smallest syringes I usually keep here are 2.5ml, too big for metacam dosing.

He's still got three doses to go - he screamed bloody murder being picked up tonight (and brought half the hay in his bed with him) and only stopped when he realised I had him and screaming was pointless. Sorry, neighbours

Cam's worked out something is up and is letting him share the same bed. I think all three of us will be glad when this is over, lol.

You are both doing so well ! Hopefully the Vet will be happy with Bann’s eye on Thursday 🥰

You’re doing all the right things and Bann is in very safe hands. Good luck on Thursday.

Oh gosh your stomach must lurch every time !
Well done tho ….its been tough but you’ve succeeded in helping this special little rascal 🥰

There's a mental scream of "...NO DON'T DO THAT" every time, but the best I can do is get him as close to the floor as possible before he goes. He's got my head melted, seriously.

You can't see it in artificial light like I had last night, but his eye's still got a blue glassy look to it in the sunlight. 🤞 it's nothing major.

So, an update. Bann's seen the vet (and decided cooperation is for other guinea pigs, and not for him lol) - we're in agreement the eye looks much better. Still 99% sure nothing's caught in there but not 100% because, ahem, cooperation issues. We're also in agreement it's not 100%. I've got another tube of the isathal, and I can change the doses down to once per day. If I'm happy within two weeks that it's sorted I don't need to continue with the drops but if I'm not happy with it within two weeks I'm to take him back to see if there's anything else going on.

And I got more syringes :))

Other than that he bumped his head off the carrier trying to put him in at one point and I managed to tip a vimto ice lolly out of the wrapper onto my jeans and now they're stained with vimto and I got brain freeze for my trouble. 🤷‍♂️

Sounds like plenty of fun! I sincerely hope that there is nothing else going on.

He did say there didn't seem to be any sign of an ulcer now, so whatever it is that's going on, it's probably separate to that. It also doesn't look like it's a problem with something like glaucoma, so it might just be the eye's taking a bit more time to heal.

I would recommend that you also continue with the tear gel; it can help with clearing up the eye if there is still a remnant of opaqueness.

This was him this morning (when he finally stopped moving for long enough) -

This was after the isathal again but he's still producing too much of the cleaning fluid. He's always been prone to it but this is still more than his norm. I think this is why the vet was still trying to see if anything was caught in the third eyelid, when the ulcer itself is gone.

So glad Vince is 99% sure there’s nothing in his eye and that the ulcer has gone. Fingers very firmly crossed that there isn’t an underlying issue and that the second course of eye drops sorts Banns eye out once and for all. I can say one thing for Vince and that he’s very thorougher so if anything is amiss, he’ll get to the bottom of it x
