Bann's eye

I managed to screw up his dose this morning. Don't ask me how, but I drew up the Baytril, drew up the Metacam, and then realised I'd used the Baytril syringe for the Metacam too. So that's 0.2ml of Baytril in the Metacam bottle now 😕 I gave him the Metacam anyway but I've had to throw the bottle out and he's definitely not had a full dose of Baytril.

Gah. I'm an idiot.

Oh no just seen that Bann’s been to the vet. Sending healing vibes to him and hugs to you. ❤️

I hope the meds sort it out super quick 🤞🏻

No problem, accidents happen. Just give the vet a call explain what’s happened and I’m sure they’ll prescribe you some more x

It’s so easy to do Lorcan - don’t worry the Vet will give you more - I knocked over Bobby’s antibiotics once and had to get some more but the Vets were fine about it

@Claire W I think it's Richard I might usually see, I guess I could've misheard her yesterday when she said the name, but it was definitely another vet she was speaking to. I know the vet nurse you mean although I don't remember his name, but I didn't see any sign of him yesterday.

I did get speaking to one of the vet nurses. Since I gave him what was in the Metacam syringe he probably got a bit of a dose anyway, and as for the Metacam, it was his older bottle that I used. It was still in date so I didn't want to open the new one yet so they don't need to replace it (thankfully).

Sorry for the confusion as I didn’t realise they had a new vet called Martin. Sounds like he’s as good as Richard though and that Bann is in good hands x

Yes an ear infection or Calcified Bulla can affect balance. When Brillo had his ear infection he went deaf and lost balance for a while.

With that abscess where it is, I've been wondering. He's fine on all fours, but has a bit of a problem with his front left foot when he's begging, almost like his foot isn't quite on the same wavelength of his brain. It reminds me of when my vertigo gets bad.

I really hope the ABs will work for him. Brillo had Baytril, it worked but he needed it for 2 months, he had pneumonia as well as the ear. It's so hard when they are ill. I'll be thinking of you both.

He's still begging and everything, the foot's not quite right but his right foot is fine so he's managing to stay upright with that. He just seems a little confused about why it's not staying put.

All things considered, he's doing okay. Still eating and drinking and winding Mourne up and giving me the runaround trying to pick him up, lol. I've taken to dunking the Baytril syringe into the Metacam before giving it to him, by the time he's worked out he's been duped it's too late. I got the idea after Thursday's mishap, I figure I'm safe to do it if I keep my fingers away from the plunger.
