When you are kind to wildlife and don't want to run it over in the car so try to shoo it away only to get attacked 🤣 blinking peacocks are stubborn birds 🤣🤣
We went on a school trip and when we were having lunch they kept coming to try and steal sandwiches! Spent the whole time shooing one lot away only to find another lot coming in from another angle🤣🤯

I had a children’s picnic table set up, and put out breakfast for the toddler. In no time, six roosters were sitting next to her, and across on the benches. They patiently waited for her to feed them her whole breakfast. Fortunately, my main rooster had the hens elsewhere.

I’ve broken a tooth 🤦🏻‍♀️. Quite a big chunk has fallen off!

Hopefully I can get in at the dentist tomorrow. Wish me luck. You hear stories of dentists being booked for months.
Oh no! One of my biggest fears. How did it happen? (Sorry, I am nosy, you do not have to share if you do not want to)
My fingers are tightly crossed you can get seen soon x

I love gory details too. Someone my husband knows cut off their big toe last week (lawn mower accident) and I wanted to see pictures but my husband refused. He’s a baby.

I was only eating a biscuit. So nothing too hard. But the tooth has been playing up for a couple of weeks. I was hoping to reach my check up in August.

I am definitely called a bit of a weirdo by my family for wanting to know all the details of some grim things.
I hate the dentist but I hope it doesn't cause you too much trouble x

At the gym, a swim instructor was drowning an infant, and Mom didn’t stop it. The wailing and choking echoed off the walls and ceiling for half an hour before the instructor took a break. Mom had gone to the heated pool, and left the victim to wonder what he had done wrong. Apparently this is a weekly lesson, and has continued for over a month. This was a “good” lesson with less choking. Several of us politely asked her to intervene.

That's awful! I would report that to the pool manager. They need to be teaching confidence, safety, respect of the water, and fun not scaring the poor child!

What on Earth kind of instructor is that who wants to put fear in a child?!?!? I would complain and remove my child. Poor them 😢🤬

I’ve just put some bread in so coffee will have to wait another 2-2.5 hours. Meanwhile sparking water…less than half a bottle 😆

Just received the receipt for my parents Asda delivery later.
Asda are really pants at substitutes...

How can a supermarket have no whole milk 🥛?

Jeepers the semi skimmed is mildly close to whole milk, but skimmed milk is like buying pints of cloudy water in comparison to whole milk!

That's all of the milk being returned & that was the majority of the reason for doing an online order!

@Homestead Mom I'd definitely report it. The poor kid will probably end up petrified of water! I was on swimming lessons as a child and went under the water choking & nearly drowning, the instructor was close enough to rescue me.
But as a result I'm terrified of watery areas - Pools, sea, lakes, rivers, etc. I can't even walk onto a pier or bridge without breaking into a heart racing sweat!
Poor kid doesn't need to suffer & miss out on water fun/safety because of a jerk instructor!
I'd be raging if that was my child!
:eek::rant:

Can't say I've seen a supermarket out of whole milk ... maybe out of the brand I want, but they usually have some brand ... convenience stores I've seen sold out of whole milk. That being said ... I would probably just live with the semi-skimmed; I imagine that is what we, in the US, would call "1%,""2%," or "reduced fat." I've actually opted for a preferred brand in reduced fat over whole of certain other brands, so I can understand the substitution. The skim would definitely be unacceptable, though.

Red and green top milk are gross, blue top is the only one that doesn't set off my intestines with the lactose intolerance. I can only assume the extra fat helps me out there. There's a brand of milk in NI called Dale Farm, and they sell (or, sold, it's been a while) this purple top jug they called "The One" - "all the flavour of semi skim with all the fat of skim". My parents started on this because apparently they hate skim but The One was better for them, being lower fat. Now if you try bringing semi skim into the house there's yells of "that tastes wrong and it's got too much fat" and so many things where semi skim doesn't taste like skim and that's bad but The One tastes like semi skim and...isn't.

We have this argument over Coke occasionally too. Apparently Coke Zero tastes exactly like Coke so it's far too sweet and Diet Coke's clearly better for you, except that Coke Zero tastes nothing like Coke and it's got as much sugar in it as Diet Coke does. But Diet Coke has no sugar? Yeah, funny that. There's no explaining to them that Pepsi Max and Coke Zero have no sugar in them, just like Diet Pepsi and Diet Coke have no sugar in them.

But apparently it's my tastebuds that are "ruined from too much sugar". At least I know how to read a damn label, lol.

@GPTV My last Asda delivery, Asda were completely out of ready salted crisps. Multiple own brand options, Walkers, no ready salted to be found. Who runs out of the most basic of crisp flavours?

Interesting you say you can tolerate whole milk @Lorcan i think eldest girl is lactose intolerant (yet she LOVES milk!). I wonder whether she would tolerate it better… we are on semi, have been for a long while. I now find whole milk too rich. And it can give the husband tummy ache.

I don't have a lot of milk these days, growing up all we got was semi skim/green top and a) it's foul and b) it hated me as much as I hated it lol, I'm out of practice with it so to speak. But milkshakes, cooking, whatever, if I need milk I go with whole. My mother likes to snark that maybe I'm not lactose intolerant at all and maybe I shouldn't tell people I am, and I get to remind her that she's the one who insisted the hospital test me for lactose intolerance when I was on the psych ward because she was convinced I was making it up and looking for attention over it. You'd think after 18 years she'd stop trying to dig that hole but clearly not.

It might be worth trying her with a pint jug of it and seeing how it goes? I've been medically tested for it and I can only assume there's a protective factor in the fat, but who knows.

She’s not been tested for it. It’s unlikely given how I had to be firm to get my son allergy tested!

If not for being in hospital anyway I wouldn't have been either, and tbh they take a blood sample, make you drink this vile concoction, and then take 4 blood samples (either every hour or every half hour, it's been 18 years). Bloods are fine. Whatever they had in that brown bottle, I got handed the entire bottle and just told to neck it :)) one of the worst things I've ever needed to taste.

Things must have changed then! That sounds hideous.

It really was. Teenage me wouldn't have done it except he had a point to prove, lol. They basically check the body's reaction to whatever's in the bottle to conclude yay or nay on the intolerance, which is what all the blood tests are for. I do remember being told I needed bloods done for it and laughing my head off because even at 17, my veins were hard to find. It's not the same as testing for allergies though, an intolerance isn't the same thing. Similar, but not the same.

Although it'd be nice if the actual storm could turn up and I got more than just really really loud rumbles of thunder, y'know? Make your mind up, sky.

If it makes you feel any better, we saw a flash earlier but didn’t know if it was lightning. It was pretty bright! Then it rained but not too much.

Mira of the story - don’t wear (out) your shoes so much they give you foot problems. Or continue wearing them when you notice a (smallish) split in the sole. I have had two pairs of shoes for the past two years - ankle boots for work and a trainers. I’ve been wearing them pretty much daily. Parts of the sole on the trainers are peeling away…and yet I continue to wear them.

I had to buy new smart shoes the other week because I had bad foot pain. I think it’s plantar fasciitis. I’ve got new shoes but I’m still suffering (albeit somewhat less). My issue now is figuring out what to do when at home. I can’t spend the day in shoes! When I rest my foot on the floor, it starts hurting.

Don’t be like me, but new shoes when you need them.

PS I did this when younger as well…I’d wear shoes until they were really worn before buying new ones 🙄

We've had some more (rather impressive, I might add) rumbles of thunder, I've definitely seen flashes, and now it's absolutely chucking it down and I'm glad I no longer smoke, lol.
