Electric blanket is the best thing! But you need to get one that has independent switches for each side, I like my side warmer than the husband. You know you're old when....

I've never turned shirt collars round, I used to watch my Mum do though. I did darn socks with a mushroom, I still have it just in case!
I'm surprised they don't teach sewing anymore. I can't sew very well but I know how to do a basic mend and to sew on a button. My lovely Late Mum could make anything with a sewing machine and attempted several times to pass the skill on to me but it didn't work sadly. If I had managed to pick up the skill, I'd have saved a fortune on curtains and soft furnishings cos my Mum could do the lot. She once made a cushion to go against a wall cos everyone sat there and it hung from a bit of curtain rail that my Dad had put up it had buttons in it and everything. They don't teach sewing in school anymore, l learn my son to sew and in the army he earned his beer money off his mates, doing their sewing and ironing, also my grd son, for his 12th birthday brought him an electric sewing machine.
So many truths in this version. Totally loved the original. This has made me laugh, want to cry, feel nostalgic and be reminded of someone I had the biggest crush on.
