Wombles got a respiratory infection

Yes I am definitely his slave. I sit/crouch offering him things for ages.
I feel like he's on a throne and I am but a humble servant offering him his noms on a silver platter.
You mean you only just realised 🧐😜

How is Womble doing?
The vet said she was happy with his progress, that he wasn't 100% yet, he was still squeaking a little when he breathed but it was a whole lot better than it was. That hopefully this round of antibiotics was enough and to start with the nebulizer once a day for twenty minutes.
He hates it! It's quite noisy but he got used to it by the end and started looking for treats.
The vet said he fought more when she tried to give him the medicine which shows he's getting better as he seems brighter.
Last time she said he was good when she gave him the medicine and we were shocked because he isn't at all good for us! Even when he wasn't 100%.
It's nice to see he can fight against someone he doesn't know to have his medicine. 🤣

Here's Womble in his chamber getting nebulized. He gets a diluted solution of F10 turned into vapour to help with the germs in his lungs.
The plastic bag over the crate is to trap the vapour in. Dont worry there's plenty of oxygen getting in at the front which isn't at all covered. He spends 10 minutes then a small break then another 10 minutes.

Hope the nebuliser is helping him.
I think it's the combination of treatments that has helped him. We were determined to hit it from every angle so it was less likely to reoccur. He's seeing a vet again tomorrow evening to check his chest but he seems a lot brighter than he was this time last week. 🙂

Womble doing the hairy pancake in the hay.
I went to approach to take a pic of him just before bed and he looked up with a most offended look that I disturbed his doze.
He's doing more stuff like this which makes me think he's on the mend. I am taking him in again tomorrow since he did hoot a couple of times this morning but he is MUCH better.

It's official the vet said "Last week it was a high pitched squeak when I listened to his lungs, on Friday it was better but still a little but of a squeak when he breathed, Today he's fine, I listened to his chest and Womble just sounds like a normal guinea pig so no more antibiotics or other medicine. " 😄👍

I'm hearing Womble squeaking in his sleep a little bit. Not constantly but every now and again. Is this normal for them? I thought the vet cleared him as fine. Is he fine?
I heard him a couple of times. The vet was so confident he was better that she said he was ok to meet the girls next week. 😶

It's not like when he was hooting that was scary. But do the make noises like snoring?
Could it be a little hay dust. It was sort of a few snoozy squeaks now he's quiet again in his circus hide sleeping.

I've not known them to snore. Perhaps it's a little dust from the hay, but I think if you're still worried in a few days then there's no harm in taking him in for a check. You could also try to speak to the vet and see what they say.

I think I'll keep an eye on him and his weight again. But since he's had the all clear, he should be ok. I called the vet quite a bit about him last week. 🙄

It could be a little bit of hay dust, I think they have very small nostril passages. just keep a keen eye on that lovely lad x

I will I put him on Orchard hay but mostly because my husband is asthmatic but I got a smaller box of Timothy hay I mixed in only today so maybe that is it.

It’s funny Timothy hay seems far worse for me too, I’m allergic to hay too
