Ours went for a health check when we first got them, and I plan to take them every 6 months for a check up and proper nail trim.
We use our local small animal vets who seem to know about piggys.
You can think of your first health check as an opportunity to test your vets piggy knowledge- do they know what to check? Ours checked back as well as front teeth and listened for healthy tummy sounds and commented on what well shaped poops they were doing, which suggests they know what's important! They should check weight, ears, eyes, fur, breathing, heart, and the whole bum-and-bits area too.
