Truffle and Polo

Hard to tell which end is his butt and which end is his head! Too cute. But I bet that fur is high maintenance.

Haha, he's head first in the hay. I trimmed his coat in Summer rather erratically and am trying to decide what to do now. He's quite wriggly, especially when I do his butt, which is the important part to prevent matts. I trim him on newspaper to collect his fur and there is quite a lot, even after a routine trim, but combing it is quite pleasant and relaxing, although neither of my piggies like being held for long.

I got Polo and Truffle's fleece corner fringed hide out. Polo was very pleased to see it again and loves hiding and lurking in it. I put extra hay in their bendy bridge hides, but Truffle has shoved most of his out the back. It's getting cold, time to bring out the snuggled sacks!
They both got Ivermectine spot on applied today as they have been scratching quite a lot.

Oh yes, when the ramps arrive, I will finish the lifts. Hopefully they will get a bit of exercise going up and down for veggies 🪜

I can't get over Polo's miniature ears, they're so cute

My girls live along each other just fine (no boy-drama, muhaha), but your thread here inspired me to introduce a soft teddy or two. They LOVE their teddies! Especially Rosie, she picked her favourite (a dinosaur) and often uses it as a pillow.

Thank you! I'm glad your piggies are cuddling happily. It is good weather for snuggling. So cute how they have favourite toys ❤️

The lifts are up and both piggies are using the ramps!

Back from a check up at Beaumont Sainsbury Veterinary Hospital ❤️
Everything went well. The nice vet checked Polo's teeth and advised us to come back in three months for a check up. He is on a short diagnostic course of gabapentin to see if eating veg is causing him discomfort as he is puffing out his fur while eating veg. He eats with a good appetite, but I want to make sure his teeth are in good condition.

We travelled on the train and on the underground and although the journey was uneventful, it was noisy for guinea pig ears. When I lifted the blanket to look in on him in his carrier, he looked terrified. He bustled about from time to time and worked his way under the fleece and soft hay. When I looked into his eyes and spoke to him, it seemed to help. The vet liked him and said he has a very nice temperament! I asked about neutering and they are experienced at this and often do it through the abdomen to avoid having the surgical wound where it could be dragged on the ground. It could be a good thing as if one of my piggies passed, it would be a lot easier to find a wife than a new boar buddy. Living in parallel but separate cages might be lonely for them. It's a tricky decision.
