Think Blodwen is getting a URI :(

She is eating hay with her pals but she sounds like a broken steam engine full of ducks going up a steep hill :(
I guess the eating is a very good thing but I'm worried if it was a choice between eating and breathing my tubby little Blod flower would choose the food...!

Dors anyone think I should give her some loxicom later to soothe any inflammation? The vet didnt say but they only spoke to.piggy daddy and he isnt the best with medical things... she doesnt seem in pain but she can't be very comfy and her airways must be inflamed...

Blod is home already, she has a nasty URI and a crackly chest and got a big injection of baytril and has to have 0.5ml of yucky baytril twice a day for a week. They want to see her again tomorrow and if she is any worse/not any better they suggested a chest xray which sounds quite serious? But I'm all for that if it helps and they can do it without sedation...

You know I'm no medical expert but Comet did the exact same thing - crackly chest, hooting constantly, eating as much as possible, and injected and oral Baytril. He never forgave the vet for the injection but it did work wonders for him. Here's hoping it's similar for Blod!

Steam is wonderful for helping with a nasty URI as well as Baytril. I’ve never had metacam as well. I use a nebuliser with some saline or with a bit of F10 antiseptic. But you could just pop her in the bathroom and run the shower for a bit to get up some steam for her. Hope she feels better soon.

Blod seems brighter and less alarmingly wheezy this evening, her best friend Clover gave her a very thorough grooming and lots of piggy kisses on one side of her bottom which must be where she had the baytril injection, then Blod had a long sleep and woke up much less grunty and ready to eat a big dish of red pepper and coriander then jump in the hay pile :)

So pleased to hear this x

Fought the baytril syringe like a lion, she used to be much easier to medicate when we first got her and she did her "paralysed fear potato" thing! Don't think she's too scared of us anymore :)
Here she is having coriander rewards, I have no idea what happened with her hairdo today but I suspect there has been some competitive "no Blod's my friend, let me groom her if she's poorly!" action going on that has barbered her crest a little... Piggle is a very nibbly kind of friend...!

Blodwen says thank you everyone for your get well messages, she also says piggy swear words about baytril and keeps running off and hiding whenever we go in the puggy room in case it might be medicine!
Still grunty this morning but not as bad as yesterday. Here is loyal Clover guarding the castle house where her best friend Blod is hiding :)

Oh ... Blod and piggy daddy just left for their vet check and I CAN STILL HEAR GRUNTING :(
Then I go listen, then it stops, then I hear it again, there's a grunty cardboard box with 3 piggies in... who else is ill?! I think it sounds like Clover but could be Piggle... going to phone vet now and see if we can get precautionary antibiotics for second grunter...

Vet thinks Blod has improved a lot overnight, other potential grunters Clover and Piggle booked in for vet checks at 6pm tomorrow to see who is grunting and if they had better have baytril too... then all 3 going back on Friday for follow up checks!
Thank goodness we keep a generous vet fund saved up, that will end up being about £300 total for Blod's URI and to have her slightly grunty friends seen and treated too... Piggle and Clover have clearly not been social distancing and wearing face masks!

Fingers crossed it’s not too bad for whichever piggy ☹️ Come on piggies don’t scare your hoomans. Hope they’re all on the road to recovery soon. And 😘 to Clover for looking after her friend.

Honestly the Baytril injections are (as far as I'm concerned) worth their weight in gold - trying to get Comet to take it orally resulted in more of it on the floor or spilt down me than down his throat. I'm not convinced even now I actually got any into him. Now all I need to know is the magic behind getting a piggy to take an injection in towards their flank?
Hopefully if Piggle and/or Clover have picked something up you've been able to pick it up right quick. And that you don't run out of coriander bribes too quickly, because that would be terrible.
