Thea has a gunky eye

Wow that has been a long haul for you @Betsy
I’m so glad to hear that Thea is finally clear of her gunky eye.

Maybe allergies?

After 2 vet trips, 5 days of bathing with cold tea twice a day, a 7 day course of Isathal, 2 bottles of Exocin and a "you can't have any more eyedrops unless we do a swab test first" at 150 quid I might add (which I refused), daily bathing of the eye up to four times a day, Viscotears since the last bottle of eyedrops ran out, I pulled this out of Thea's eye this morning. :yikes: :yikes:

This seed head had been in Thea's eye for 3 months! I didn't see it, the vets didn't see it but poor Thea must have been very uncomfortable. I bet she feels a lot better with that gone! I reckon it was the Viscotears, along with the regular bathing that must have finally flushed it out.
No not allergies! It was a massive seed head. It was hidden behind her eyeball. 2 vets couldn't see it and neither could I. She has very thorough weekly checks. It took along time for the seed head to work it's way out of her eye.

I wonder how on Earth it got behind her eyeball! Poor girl

That's what I was thinking. When I pulled it out, it definitely came from behind it cos it certainly wasn't in front of it or the 2 vets and I would have seen it much earlier. She squeaked a bit as it came out.

Oh my gosh! That must have been severely uncomfortable, things like that have a weird way a moving through the body, I had a splinter in the bottom of my foot that years later came out the top of my foot lol

Just a quick update on this thread. Thea's eye still occasionally needs a bit of wiping with cotton wool and water but otherwise it's OK. There is nothing in it as I have had a good look around it. It isn't yellow gunk that needs wiping away, more like tears from the tear duct. She is such a good girl and demands her coriander afterwards.

Ah lovely Thea I’m glad it’s just tears - she is a good girl and deserves a peaceful retirement ❤️🥰
