@Bradshaw Piggies

Here is an update on Merlin's family. Dad Barcud with his ladies, Merlin's full sister Blodyn, his mum Millyn and his granny Modron.

Good evening ☺️

Hope everyone is well!

The piggies here would like to send some love to all of their piggy friends on here πŸ₯° everyone is going very well indeed! Eating their way through £££s of hay every week πŸ˜‚

As you can see, Merlin is getting bigger. He has passed the 800g mark now

Koda is also doing really well. It’s his 4th birthday soon. He’s been enjoying lots of adventures. He’s always out on the farm with me, then spends his time dreaming about chasing the farm cats when we get home… πŸ˜‚ he has such a huge prey drive

Woody returned to the vets this week after having his joints medicated in January. Poor boy had to spend 5 hours on the box as there was a long delay when we got there - but he behaved impeccably. He’s 100% sound! πŸ₯³ vets are pleased with him and said he’s very fit and healthy, and to continue training and competing. We have booked a place on a dressage training clinic on the 15th April πŸ’™

And on another positive note… it’s spring! πŸ₯³πŸ’–πŸ’–

Aw it’s amazing just how Merlin has grown up, it’s lovely to see part of my β€œsecond family”
He was such a little tiny scrap when I took them up to Wiebke and look at him now 😍

Hope everyone is enjoying this lovely spring weather! β˜€οΈ

We have quite the selection of wildlife on the farm this time of year. From Woodpeckers, to ducks moving in, Herons, rabbits, foxes and deer

This was our visitor this morning: 3 April 2023

We also have a couple of foals on the yard now too. Woody does love to look after the babies! : 3 April 2023

Woody is back in full training, and we have got some competition dates arranged πŸ˜ƒ he’s looking really well and fit, considering we are only just coming out of winter

Koda has had another week full of adventures! It’s his birthday on the 10th of April… he’s already asking for a trip to the beach πŸ˜‚πŸ’™

And the piggies are doing great too. All of them are so full of character!
Everyone has had nail trims this weekend, and were treated to some parsley. It will be summer hair cuts for Boris and Thor before we know it!

This week's updates:

Looks like the weather is starting to pick up! :yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

As you will have seen from my other post, my four remaining boars are getting along famously as a herd of 4. I'm so lucky to have 4 characters that can get along!
Thor and Rufus are still best buddies of course, it's very cute how they sleep curled up in the hay together. Boris just goes about his business, will sit in the hay pile with the two older boys and causes no trouble at all. Little Merlin is probably at the height of his hormones, but continues to behave himself. It is really funny to watch him rumble strut by the others and they don't even turn their heads to look at him..πŸ˜‚ So, similar to Boris, he keeps himself to himself. He's very quick to move away from the older boys when they ask, so he seems to be happy in his place in the hierarchy and respects their positions. He's continue to grow and gain weight though. You can see on the image, he's similar size to Thor now (Rufus and Boris just happen to be big piggies).
So all in all, a happy little herd and their huge space (as they've taken over my entire spare room)....

Koda would like to thank you all for the birthday wishes! He had a brilliant day of adventures, and lots of presents. He's probably the only one of us not so looking forward to summer πŸ˜‚ Mum has his cool vest and cool mats at the ready. He's made a new friend at his day care classes (Annie the Rottweiler)... I think there is a little romance going on there.... πŸ˜‚πŸ₯°

Woody is doing great. We had a trip out in the horsebox to go attend a dressage training clinic last Saturday. We had a fab time with a brilliant trainer and got lots of positive feedback, and some homework (which we love)!
We had my saddle fitter visit who needed to take his saddle away for adjustments now that he's muscled up differently as he's progressing up the levels; so that meant a couple of weeks of groundwork training - but he was a good boy! He's also had a visit from his physio this morning, and apart from his usual tight spots (that we regularly work on), she's really pleased with how he is feeling.
Definitely time to step up the levels again this year (I'm looking at competition dates this morning).... He's been working on more collected work, pirouettes and some extension work in our training sessions.

We've been really busy with the yard recently too. Dan has pulled up all of the arena surface, to correct the underlying membrane and then re-level the surface. He's keeping on top of it with the quad bike and harrow/grader every few days. He's also re-done our fencing on the summer turnout fields, ready for horses to go out next week. We are spending loads of time hand picking the Sycamore seedlings at the moment. We don't have Sycamore trees on the yard, but they are blowing in from somewhere - and they are so toxic. Nightmare!

Work is still as busy as always, but students finish in a couple of weeks (after their final exams). I've had a lovely semester teaching Equine exercise physiology and some level 6 (third year) modules such as equine advanced nutrition and equine reproductive techniques and technologies.
My photography business is getting busier (as the weather picks up). I've quite a few private photoshoots booked in, but also lots of training clinics and shows/competitions.

We are also extremely busy with our Landscaping business. We were lucky to have another winter fully booked, but (as you can imagine) the weather is improving now, and everyone wants new patios/new decking/artificial grass etc. Dan has been doing a lot of fencing and pergolas recently too. Of course, I'm always in the background doing all of the books and admin.....

Our motorsport season has also officially begun! We were at our first event at Oulton park a couple of weeks ago and the calendar for this year is a busy one. So the cars have been coming out of winter hibernation and Dan is busy getting them ready for the summer ahead.

This was a lovely shot from the GT racing a couple of weeks ago:

So as usual, it's all systems go here! I'm looking forward to summer holidays and lots of competing (both four legs, and four wheels). Plus I just want to be spending time with all of my boys! πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™

We do hope everyone is well. I am keeping an eye out for any guinea pig/forum events popping up. As it would be lovely to see everyone
