As he's had several infections in his short life, the vet was asking about his diet last time we were there. I was totally honest about amounts, treats etc and she was happy that his diet didn't need to be altered. I think maybe he needs a longer course of antibiotics. I'm really hoping it's just another infection and nothing worse.
My poor boy, it breaks my heart to hear him whimper like that. He smells of wee too which is totally out of character for my fastidious little man. He's sleeping now, looking very comfortable so the metacam must have kicked in.

Micah’s poops were usually much larger than the girls and he was neutered.

Unfortunately we are committed to being out tomorrow and can't cancel but I'll see about getting him an appointment for Tuesday. Cage clean and health check in a minute, late because I let him sleep, I'll have a good look at his undercarriage in case he's got a sperm rod.

Nothing to see on his downstairs gentlepig parts. After telling me his woes, he enjoyed a cuddle on my lap.

So far this morning Sir George has been his usual self. Popcorning around the cage when I went in this morning. I gave him some more metacam and glucosamine. I'm hoping I've caught it early enough that he won't need antibiotics.
Obviously I'll take him to get checked out if he still seems to need it but I'm loathe to take him as it's a 40min drive and the weather isn't exactly lovely.

Going through some fleeces with tweezers to remove hay splinters. I found loads of bits of boar glue that I was unaware of....AGAIN..

Master Boris was trying to get a bit of Sir George's lettuce from the other side of the bars. Sir George saw and, bless him, posted it through. Then did a cage circuit of popcorn before resuming his own meal.
He's definitely not a proper guinea pig!

A guinea pig would have tried to snatch a piece from the neighbour and acted innocently at the same time.

Some pigs are empathetic and some are not.

Minerva will happily leap on top of something to get a snack but Gaia won't no matter how much she wants the snack. Seeing Gaia staring longingly at the snack is enough to make Minerva feel sorry for her and she'll usually nudge some over so Gaia can reach it.

But if Gaia gets to some food first she'll usually sploot down on top of it, covering most of it so Minerva can't have it.

Miriam usually eats her lettuce leaf at high speed in the morning.
Moses is much slower and easily distracted by fresh hay, pellets, Miriam coming close and requiring rumbles.
Poor boy doesn’t stand a chance - Miriam grabs and finishes his leaf as a bemused boy wonders what happened

Sir George was absolutely adorable earlier. He had a massive attack of squeaky popcorns, like a bucking bronco round his cage. He then bounced into the top of his hammock and was rolling round in it like a puppy!

Master Boris stopped eating the pepper given at veggie time about a week ago. He still eats it when it's given as an extra "treat" though

Thea has to be hand fed pepper first the other 2 have to be hand fed lettuce.

Well I let Thea be a diva as she's earned it and I have to spoil Miss Bramble or else I think I'll know about it. Misty is Miss Bramble's Mum so I have to keep her sweet or she'll tell tales to the GPU's Shop Steward!

Hand fed or not, the girls still refuse to eat peppers.

Gaia doesn't mind me hand feeding her grass though. She'll drop whatever she has picked up in favour of the piece I'm offering. Guess it tastes better when the Slave is slaving away.
