Aw, them, I took so long to reply to your previous post about him eating etc, I've just read your latest before I posted it, I'm so sorry it's not better news ((((hug)))))) bless his little piggie socks, at least you are doing your best for him, he's very lucky to have you. Not really helpful I know, but it doesn't help you are ill as well as it's making you feel even worse I bet. Is it worth texting Vedra at CCT to see if she can suggest anything as well as your own vet? I don't blame you for feeling sorry for yourself, don't be ashamed about it!

At least he still seems himself for now, will be thinking of you both. If you need a rant/shoulder feel free to PM any time.xx

Thanks Julie (you've set me off again!) i will see how he goes this week, just take each day as it comes. If he's not clear in a week i will talk to my vet and think about texting Vedra, i dont know what to expect if its in his blood, i should have asked but i just assumed she meant pts :( i couldnt do that to him though because he's fine in himself, eating and running around etc he just seems a bit down on his own :( thanks again, you lot have really helped me with Ralfie xxxxxx

Oh Emma, I am so sorry to read this :( Poor Ralfie and poor you :'(
Sorry I didnt see this before, been working hard and not on much. Keep up the good work, you are a brill piggy mummy. Please give Rafie a kiss and cuddle from me, his number one fan O0

Chin up them, he may still be okay :) I suggest you finish what you need to do with Ralfie and piggies then go to a nice warm room with a nice comfy sofa with a delicious bottle of wine/beer/cider/short and savour a glass or two with a *mahoosive* bar of Cadbury's and a good book and try and lose yourself in that for an hour or so. When it's like this, it's hard to relax, and you need to if you're not feeling so great yourself. Hope you feel better soon xx

Poor little Ralfie. Take heart from the fact that he still seems fine in himself. You are doing all the right things, sounds like you've got a good and compassionate vet too so that helps. Julie's right, sort the piggies out and try to get some "me time" even if it's only for half an hour. Take care and rooting for Ralfie.

That sounds so good :smitten: except swap the wine for hot chocolate lol!Ive just swapped the girls cage round a bit to give Ralfie and Sephy a bit more room, looking at them I'm more worried about Sephy, she's hardly eaten and styed in her pigloo, she seems really scared without Ralf. I think its going to take a hile to get Ralf better so i may try Sephy with the girls when i know she's 100% infection free, not that i hold out much hope they'll like her, they hate eachother and the rumbling is almost constant. probably because they're teens ::) Oh the stress! why can they never all be well and getting on? x

Aw noooo, Ralfie! :'( :'( :'(

Poor little man, and poor you. Don't give up hope, he is a fighter, and sounds like you have a good vet. It could be that he is just run down and his picked up these infections?

I really hope he picks up soon, all my boys send their best wishes to him and piggy licks to you to cheer you up!

Do let us know how he is getting on, he is a lovely little chap.

x

Aww Emma sorry to hear about Ralfie. If ever you need someone to piggy sit him when he isn't well remember I am here. He has been through the mill and I hope he gets through this.

What happens now has he had any tests?

Sending hugs to you all,

Louise

Thanks Katie and Louise, he's been really good tonight, ate his veg and hay up and took his meds no problem for a change! Well he's on baytril for another week, still on his drops and i have to flush his abscess twice a day and pack it with cream, thats the worst part it must hurt so much :( Sephy's been following him up and down the divider bless her, they just want to be together but health wise they are no worse which i suppose is good. Poor Ralf stinks though, didnt want to wash him because it would weaken his skin and thats the last thing he needs, he'll just have to stink for a few more days. If he's not better in a week i'm assuming they'll do tests or maybe try some other antibiotic. She seems to think his abscess may not heal because its so deep so thats what I'm concentrating on, i hate doing it though its horrible for him :( x

Aww Emma poor Ralfie :(

Thinking about you & sending Ralfie get well wishes :smitten: :smitten:

Awwwww! Poor Ralfie and poor you too :'( Hope all the meds work really quickly and he's back to his old self soon :-* :smitten:

He seems quite bored today but is still eating and walking round, he's drinking a lot too :( dont know what that means x

Cuzzy drinks a lot too Emma, I think he does it because he is a little fed up on his own of a night.

Thinking of you and still have fingers crossed for lovely Ralfie :)

Hi Sammy, he seems ok. Still eating and walking about normally, his abscess bled quite a bit when we flushed it last night but no pus came out so i suppose that's a good thing, seemed to really hurt him though, but he seems ok within himself. Poor Sephy isn though, she seems so depressed without him :( my mum has told me i have to get a shed for them too :( she said its getting very crouded in there which is true and its starting to smell 98) obviously the abscess smelt but i cant smell anything now. But its her house i suppose, at least if i get a shed i'll be able to keep Sephy because i can get her a friend. Going to try her with the girls first though. ::) the stress of it all!

AWwwwww hun, keep your chin up. :-* :-*
Sounds like you're doing a grand job with ralfie. It's heartbreaking when they're not well.
Take care.
Anne. :smitten:

Thats a good idea - see how she gets on with Bumble and Bee O0

They are a trial arent they! But you seem like you are coping beautifully O0

Awww... poor Ralfie is a bit sore still :( sending him loadsa luv :smitten:

Thanks Anne, to be honest I'm past the heartbreaking part, he's ill all the time, i go the vets and they umm and aaa over him and say they dont think he'll get better and i look at him and he's fine! He doesnt sneeze, just sounds a bit chesty, when you pick him up, his eyes to me seem clear but apparently they're not, and although his abscess hurts him when we're cleaning it, it doesnt bother him otherwise, well it doesnt affect his behaviour and to me it looks as if its doing a good job of healing which the vet said it wouldnt. While he's like this if they sugget pts its not going to happen because he's happy and eating fine. If he's going to get abscesses throughout his life i'll deal with them, the minute i start thinking he's in pain and not himself i will think about what's best for him but if he carries on the way he is I'm happy to look after him! x

Thanks Helen, i dont hold out much hope for her getting on with the girls, i put her on the floor with them last night and she didnt like them at all! for some reason the little monkey thought she could take on those two sumos! they just wanted to sniff her but she was rumbing past herself and jumping everywhere away from them lol. There was no actual fighting though or nipping so there's still a good chance, Bee is a once bitten twice shy kind of girl and she's always on the defence so I'm hoping nobody attacks her or there's no chance it will work ::) she holds a grudge! x

Go girl O0 Like you said as long as he is not in pain and has a good quality of life there's no need for anything drastic ;) good luck with introducing Sephy to the girls ,I'm sure they will love her and welcome to the"shed brigade",Mine is my secret haven...pigsville ;D ;D
take care s xx

Sammy i could do with a few tips about shed really lol! My dad has said he'll insulate it for me and do teh electrics but how is yours done and how do you heat it etc? Theres a thread i made in housing about it if there's any info you can give me on there :) thanks! If they're going outside they're doing it in style lol!

Good luck with the shed Emma. As you know I had mine in my Shed for a while which is 8x4 I would go for perhaps 8 foot but by 6 foot. I found the 4 foot too small. Are you going to use c&c or built in hutches. I think when I get another shed I will use the hutch idea. I just don't trust my boys to stay in c&c. Sunshine is 2lb now and can easily bulldoze his way out...nutcase! :D

The best shed place I know of would be Atlas Sheds not fat from Rentokil in Kirkby, mum got hers from there and it is still going strong. You can get cheaper but you pay for the quality. Also get a base for it otherwise it will sink on grass. :)

Hope the girls like Sephy, keep us posted!

Louise

:) thanks Louise, will probably need the ground levelling too because our garden is on a hill, I'm looking at 10foot by 8foot or maybe 10foot by 6foot, my dad does heating, building, plumbing, electrics, plastering and insulation for a living so I'm lucky to have the perfect person to build a shed i suppose ;D because i wont be paying for any of that i can buy a more expensive shed! so will have a look where you said, that not far from me is it? x

Oh and i would be using the C&C's still i think, I'm not planning to ever get more than 5 pigs max so hutches would probs be a waste of money but if i were getting any more or rescuing i think the hutch idea is much more efficient and look so organised! x

Good luck with the shed and glad Ralfie is doing a bit better :)
