Poor Dennis is a bit grunty!

Watching the video it has brought back memories of how one of our piggies sounded when she had a tooth origin tumour that was growing into her nasal cavity. Now please don't think I am suggesting this is what is happening with Dennis, but I do think that investigation should be made to see if anything is obstructing the nasal cavity.

When Rachel (Vet) gets back to me I'll ask her about it.

Poor Dennis. I hope you can soon get to the bottom of this. He is still as gorgeous as ever.

Poor Dennis! I hope he feels better soon. For some reason, I seem to stop getting notifications on lots of threads, so have been missing this. Sending lots of hugs and kisses to gorgeous Dennis!

Had to put Dennis's video of his breathing on PetsApp and send it in to Rachel. She agrees that his breathing does sound "more nasally than anything else at the moment" but as he is still eating, maintaining his weight (with the help of syringe feeding), pooping loads and is his normal self, we don't want to have to put him through the trauma of a nasal swab and an x-ray. I am to continue with the Metacam and she is sending me a bottle of Co-Trimoxazole (the AB's he had before) and carry on with the nebuliser. Rachel explained that as Dennis had had this nasty breathing issue for quite a while, it is going to take quite a while for him to get better.

So sorry to hear about Dennis's URI, hope he feels better soon. Abigail's started an URI and had her first appointment on the 10th October with Simon at the Cat and Rabbit, she seemed a little better then it started up again and had a second prescription of Marbocyl P tablets on the 24th October which she finished on Monday all seemed to be cleared until today when her breathing became rattly again. So back to the cat and Rabbit on Saturday. She eating well and popcorning, just her breathing. Really hope they can give her something to clear it up. They are such a worry.

I really hope you can get to the bottom of it soon. It’s good he’s still pooping and being his normal gorgeous self.

Oh yeah he's pooping alright! Everytime I pick him up to syringe feed him he's done a pile of poops! And everytime I lift him out of the nebuliser box there are a pile of poops ......

Million poops is better than no poops 🤔🤪

Where do you get a nebuliser from please? Only sat in a steamy bathroom with Abi, this might help. Thank you

Thank you, i will have a look for one on Boots online.

I have this one. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Omron-NE-C...4hp&pd_rd_i=B0081EL4OS&ref_=pd_bap_d_rp_1_1_t
It’s great. Easy to set up. I’ve made a chamber from a small pet carrier covered in cling film to keep the moisture inside. I pop the piggy inside in some towels with hay. Hang the reservoir inside the door then cover over the door with towels to keep the vapour in. I’ve never found a piggy that objects to being in there l

Thank you VickiA, i am going to order one of these today, hopefully it will help. Abigail is in to see Kim at the Cat and Rabbit again tomorrow.

Have just picked up a third lot of antibiotics for Dennis. So far he has had Batyril and Co Trimoxazole and now he has Sulfatrim (I was told that Co Trimoxazole was Sulfatrim by the lovely Alfonso but I think my question to him must have got lost in translation as he is Spanish). Dennis has been prescribed 0.31ml twice a day. Let's hope this new antibiotic will get rid of his URI.

Poor Dennis, i really hope this round of medication works for him. Get well soon handsome boy. :luv:

Hope the sulfatrim works for Dennis!
I just looked them up, and yes, they are the same, sulfatrim is a trade name. Maybe it's like Metacam, and there are different strengths, but supplied under different names?

They are the same. Co Trimoxazole is septrin, which is the same as Sulfatrim. I am really confused as to what your vet is doing.
