Please Send Your Vibes To Pili Pala!

It's rather a bit up and down, as you'd expect.

An hour ago, she was very sorry for herself when the metacam had run out. But yesterday's poos have now started to come through (in cow pad form, but they are coming) and she has just tried to tuck into a little veg when I served dinner for the group, so she has obviously found her will to live again now that the new lot of metacam has kicked in.

I am well on track in getting syringe feed into her in 5 ml instalments every hour or so to keep the guts busy without overloading them. I can hopefully get 60 ml or even a little more into her in 24 hours, which is very good.

Signs are good, but it is a long haul.

So pleased the poo is coming, I remember this well with treacle, you are never so pleased to see wet poo... Zantac is a life saver I find. Sending continued love and vibes. Huge to you x x

Come on little one. Keep fighting, you have the whole forum behind you. Best wishes to you and your Mummy xx

Oh no how awful, poor little piggy. I will keep my fingers crossed she feels better soon.

Ooh poor piggy! I've got my fingers crossed over here too! Sending hugs to you both!

How is she this morning Wiebke?

Pili Pala has made it through the night and is lively enough to teeth chatter her protest at the regular feeds. She is however still very poorly and not eating on her own.

We are now in the phase where no poos are coming through, reflecting the period when she suffered GI stasis. I am not worried, as her guts are gurgling (if not exactly a lot) and she is brighter and more with it compared to yesterday morning even if at times she is still nodding off during a feed.

It's not going to be a quick recovery, but I am well on the way to get 60 ml into her within 24 hours of her GI stasis, which is a very good amount for a very ill piggy not eating at all for herself.

I am hoping that I am going to see some poo output (mushy or not) starting up again over the course of hopefully today or latest tomorrow, depending on how slowly the guts are working. it takes time to bring the whole engine back up to speed.

Its sounding as positive as it can. Come on Pili Pala... you can do this!

Come on beautiful Pili Pala be good and strong and do what your human mummy says. There's no need to teeth chatter in protest!

Just caught up with this and sending our best healing vibes! At least she has the best care she could possibly need xx

Pili Pala wants to thank everybody for their good wishes. She is still not a well piggy and - as she is not eating by herself - still relies on regular feeds around the clock, but she is now lively enough to register her protest and refuse to cooperate, provided she is not nodding off during a feeding session as she is still mostly running on empty.

She's been eating 60 ml plus extra water to keep her rehydrated in the 24 hours since returning from the vets in little portions (about 2-3 mouthfuls per syringe), so her rather sleep deprived mummy is very happy about that. 40 ml was the minimum aim to get the guts going again.

It is still going to take several days to get her through it, but things are going in the right direction. Mummy is still waiting for the sluggish guts to produce poos from yesterday's feeding sessions, but she knows that they are in the works seeing that Pili is having a little bit more energy and must already getting the benefit from all the feeds. Mummy also knows that she is doing all she can to encourage the guts, including the addition of probiotics to the syringe feed, so she has to be patient - and try her best at not nodding off herself during a feeding session!

Sending lot of love an healing vibes for little Pili Pala x

I am relieved that she has made it through the night and is feeling a little better today.

Keep going Pili Pala and make sure you look after yourself too @Wiebke x

Come on little gorgeous lady! We need poo! x

I really wish they would come! Right now the poor lady is rather poorly and uncomfortable (due another lot of metacam) while waiting for the gut stimulants to kick in again... it is a constant up and down. :(

Oh I'm so sorry Pili is so poorly! Sending healing vibes and kisses to her. I hope for many poos to be coming your way!

Still waiting for a press (ugh, poo) release! At least the latest batch of gut stimulants and painkillers has kicked in again. Pili is still accepting food (although rather reluctantly and only in small portions), but it means that her guts are still moving, however slowly.

I'm glad she's fighting along side you :) I'm sure she'll be laying some little brown eggs soon enough! x

Just picked up on this thread Wiebke, healing thoughts for pilli, try & get some rest. Is there no one that can help with the shifts.
Take care Hugs coming your way xx

How is Pili this morning?

I am very relieved that after not being very bright yesterday evening and a difficult night when it has taken three quarters of an hour to get 10 ml into Pili Pala (plus extra water) in order to allow me time for a couple of hours sleep in between feeds, she is perkier this morning and is starting to actively take syringe feed instead of just processing what get in. You can hear her gut again.
She is still eating only little and slowly, and tires very quickly, but I feel that we have finally turned a corner.

Pili Pala has lost over 300g in just four days (a third of her body weight) because of her being unable to process any food, but once the guts are back to working fully, she can hopefully put some of it back on fairly quickly, and the rest will hopefully come back eventually. I have managed to get half the daily food amount into her against the odds, so as this is now being digested, her weight should start to climb again.

But is has been a very close shave indeed! :yikes:

We are due for a check-up at the vets this afternoon, and can also have them deal with an incipient eye infection from either a hair or a tiny bit of hay stuck under a lid.

I'm glad you have some good news. My fingers are very firmly crossed she continues to improve. Good luck at the vets this afternoon.
