Pigging Out

We just got back around an hour ago from Derwent Valley Vets to see Ellie Whitehead. I noticed this morning that Vegas has 2 big lumps in the neck. So hubby phoned the vets and managed to get an appointment for today. Vegas weight has been up and down for the past few months and she lost around 80g around Oct-Nov (from around 1320g to 1235g) but she managed to gain all the weight back again on December. So we thought it was just because of having a new piggy (Whitney) around that time.

Yesterday she lost around 50g and a bit quiet. So we thought it's because of Whitney and Bryce non stop chasing each other and her wanting to get away from them. Well after feeling the lumps this morning, we thought there is definitely wrong.

So Ellie checked her and she definitely have 2 big lumps in the neck. But then She said that she could feel more lumps on both shoulders and both back legs, which she said was the lymp nodes being inflamed. Now she doesn't know if this is just a reaction from having the lumps in the neck or the dreadful cancer. So she got a sample from both lumps in the shoulders, legs and in the neck. And she said when she tried to see if the lumps in the neck are abscess, she said there wasn't abscess that came out.

So now I'm worried that Vegas has cancer. It's 50-50 at the moment. We are hoping it's not and the antibiotics (Azythromicin) would do something. Ellie will phone us of the results of the biopsy on Friday/Monday. She said if it's cancer, the usual prognosis of how long her life can last is around 2 to 6 weeks. 😭😭😭

I was just telling Vegas last week that since she'll be around 4yrs old on July that hopefully she is still healthy and no problems. Well I spoke too soon. We took her to the vet for the very first time today. 😔😭💔

I really hope it’s not and that the antibiotics help. Sending love x

Hoping it’s just an infection which will clear up with the AB’s. It’s such a worry waiting for results, sending hugs

Thanks all for your messages. Vegas is quiet again today and really not moving much. Her weight is still good, 1310g, but she hasn't really much appetite. She does eat some hay and readi grass and occasionally would eat some parsley and few tiny salad leaves. She did go down from the loft last night and ate some hay and salad down their cage and hubby said when he woke up this morning that she went downstairs and went to their piggy area under the rattan chair. Oh she hates the Azithromycin. 👎👎

Hoping that the results bring back positive news. Boris did have inflamed nodes in neck, groin, armpit etc last year after a period of losing weight, but his aspirations came back negative and he’s still with us, so stay positive. It’s good to hear that she has made her way to her usual spot this morning.

Thanks for this post Vicki! I was really worrying and being negative. Fingers crossed that Vegas' result will be like your Boris'. 🤞🤞🤞

We managed to get some grass from the farm field somewhere. When hubby shook the bag, she went running down from the loft and straight to the grass that hubby put on the floor. They are all still eating grass. Hubby has put 4 handfuls of it for them.

Hope you’re beginning to feel a bit better after losing Vegas.

Happy Anniversary for Wednesday. Hope you have a lovely day
Thank you! ❤️ We're going to Liverpool for our weekly visit to the in-laws. MIL said I can order extra from the restaurant! 😂

We are doing a bit better. Sometimes I can't help to be sad whenever I see the rock on her grave through the back door. Or whenever I don't see any digging under the hay. But she's with Sierra and Rocky now, and she really didn't allow us to see her in pain. She was still very happy the day before she passed, acting normal. Something we really are a bit thankful for.
