My bunnies decided it was time they had their own thread!

We have the almost 8 year old Patch (English cross). The confirmed bachelor, considers himself a dog more than a bunny, affectionate old man in my life!6B70B91F-8025-40E0-A655-73A3A1B1E90C.webp

Then we have the young ladies!
Six months old, Netherland dwarf - Saffron and Luna

They are booked in for their spays tomorrow and I don’t fancy trying to catch them from their hutch/run at 7 o clock tomorrow morning (it was bad enough trying to get them to go back into their hutch from their run and then getting them into the carrier this evening), so theyve come in tonight ready for tomorrow. They’ll then stay in for a while post surgery so I can look after them.
I am rather anxious about it.196D48E0-E28F-440A-85C5-4F2BBF3E673E.webpA02C06A1-B824-404A-B58B-A9FFAF2E746C.webpF2C30510-FFEB-4EC4-BC58-14ADA820642B.webp

I am considering trying but it’s unlikely he will accept them, he hasn’t accepted anyone before now sadly.

Aww bless him. Does he interact with them through bars/make an effort to? Or is he quite solo. I know male rabbits can be a different kettle of fish to compared to guinea pigs. Good luck with the bonding/the spay! Xx

Ahhh such beauties! :wub::wub::wub:
Wishing them (and you!)all the best with the spaying tomorrow.

What lovely rabbits. I have 2 pairs and a recently bereved buck, Snowflake who will be getting doe at the end of the month.

He is back and white and very gentle. Moondust and Loganberry live indoors (same room as the guinea pigs) then Frosty and Daisy live in a shed/run.

No, he isn’t interested in them in the slightest. The girls like to watch him and go to the bars and try to get his attention but he couldn’t care less.

Thinking of you and the girls today and hoping it all goes well.
If it's any consolation I have had 6 female rabbits spayed over the years and they all recovered fine.

Thank you.

I've had three spayed previously as well, all of them were also fine. I keep reminding myself of that! I completely trust my vet and I know they are in very good hands! They just seen so teeny tiny, doesn't help of course that they are dwarf rabbits so they are smaller than the English and English crosses which I've always had! I last had Netherlands 30 years ago!

My girls are home!
Theyre, unsurprisingly, a bit stressed. I expected them to stay inside the carrier when I put the carrier into the cage, but they’ve both come straight out. Just got to get them eating properly again. The nurse said they’ve seen them nibbling (otherwise they wouldn’t have let them come home) but I’m now obviously on watch with syringes at the ready just in case.

Welcome home Luna and Saffron. Now get munching so your mum can have peace of mind! Glad it went well. Hope they recover well.

The girlies are stressing me out!
Luna is causing a bit of concern. I’ve called the vet and he agreed that while we aren’t at panic mode, we are concerned enough that he would feel better if he gave them a check over before they close (they’re open half day today) than hand over to out of hours care.

Oh no, hope their check over with the vets goes well bless them. Big hugs to you all x

Saffy seems to be perking up and is starting to actively forage again, not as much as normal yet but she is looking brighter. Not touched veg or pellets but she was happy to lick the end of the syringe which seems to have kickstarted her appetite.
Luna is looking a bit brighter, she’s grooming herself now and is hopping about a bit more but she isnt really gaining interest in eating - I’ve seen her eat three blades of grass and a few strands of hay and that’s it, no veg of pellets either. I had hoped the grass would be of interest to her but it wasn’t. Syringe feeding her isn’t going well either - she’s being far too feisty, which is good but not helping me!
I’m hoping it’s just that its taking her a little longer to feel better from the anaesthetic than it has done Saffy. Having explained to the vet, he said he’d just feel better to see them (Luna especially) given it’s been almost 24 hours since surgery, he’d like to see more of a normal appetite returning soon and given they are due to close soon he‘d rather see them himself
