Patsy has sore feet.

They look so much better. Well done mummy pig, you are an excellent nurse.😃🐾

Sent pictures of Patsy's feet to Rachel (Vet) this morning. Rachel is happy that Patsy's front feet have completely healed :) but the back feet still need the foot spa for a little while longer. Patsy is getting a bid fed up of the foot spas now but enjoys the Metacam and the SS Recovery food she gets to keep her still.

not long now Patsy and your little back tootsies will be all healed and no more foot spas x

Oh them poor pinkies, you doing a great job Jackie, since you started the thread , , I've checked my 4 feet , , not me I've only two lol.
Mean piggies,,
Little loves can cause us lots work,
Patsy you keep them pinkies all clean and bright, xx

I am very pleased to report that after this morning's foot spa the scab has come of the other foot. So at long last Patsy's feet are scab free! I am still waiting to hear back from Rachel (Vet) as to whether I need to carry on with the foot spas for a few more days or not. I sent her pictures via PetsApp this morning.

I heard back from the vet earlier on today and she said to carry on with the foot spas and Metacam for another couple of days.

Patsy's back feet have started to look a bit red again. The vet did say that this might happen and that I may have to give her a maintenance pedicure once a month or so for the rest of her life. The Piggy Pedi Parlour opened again this morning and Patsy went in for her Epsom Salt Foot spa treatment. She was fine until it came to drying her off. When she gets stressed she chews her front feet specifically the toes. She started to do this at the end of her treatment a few weeks ago. I don't know how I can stop this behaviour. It is clearly learned behaviour from her previous home(s). She was chewing her feet while she was sat with her back to me in order that I could dry her tummy off. Then I changed her position so she was then on all fours which made it more awkward for me to dry her but more comfortable for her and she was still trying to chew her toes. Then she went back in the run on a Snugglesafe.

Anyone any ideas how I can make drying her off less stressful for her? I don't have a helper in this situation, there is only me.

Sorry to hear she’s having foot trouble again. At least you are on top of it. She couldn’t ask for a better hooman! 🥰

As for drying I’m not sure. Are you towel drying her?
I’ve found a couple of mine hate being towel dried but actually sit quite happily with the hair dryer on low heat.

Patsy is very lucky you noticed so quickly and can open the piggy pedi parlour again. Hope she feels better soon.

Poor Patsy. I can’t offer any suggestions but a hope that with time and patience she will feel secure enough to unlearn a stress reaction 🙏🏼

Thanks @Bradshaw Piggies. I am towel drying her and she hates the hair dryer but thanks for the suggestion.

She is starting to feel settled in here so hopefully she will. I haven't handled her much since September as she had had a lot of stress from July to September last year and I didn't want to add to it. Now she is settling in nicely and knows the routine I'm handling her a bit more. She is beginning to like a cuddle and cheeky rubs. I'm taking it at her pace and only have her out for a few minutes at a time apart from weekly checks and Pedi Parlour visits.

Update on Patsy's tootsies.

The Piggy Paradise Pedi Parlour was open for twice daily Epsom Salt foot spas for Pretty Patsy for 10 days until she developed a runny nose.
Patsy has a runny nose
The vet advised to stop bathing her feet and clean them with cotton wool dipped in salt water if I felt she needed it. Patsy's feet were looking pretty good as she was at the tail end of her foot spas. Since then I have been putting F10 barrier cream on her feet initially twice a day and now just every morning and her feet are nearly back to normal. I seems as if this is going to be an ongoing problem for her so I may well keep up the once daily routine of F10 barrier cream as a preventative. She doesn't mind the right back foot being done but has had enough once I've rubbed the F10 cream into it so complains bitterly about the left foot being done.

Glad you are seeing improvement :) Yes, even when Odin's feet cleared up, I kept up the wiping over and F10 cream application once a day.

Patsy gets lots of bribes. She has a strawberry top as her third breakfast and lots of yummy meadow hay during the day and lots of yummy veg at night and the occasionall pea flake during the day.

Update on Patsy's feet.

When I took Patsy to the vets yesterday for a final check for her URI, the vet checked her feet too. Her feet are looking nice again. I let the vet know that I was rubbing in F10 barrier cream once a day now to prevent her sore feet from returning. Vet said this was a good idea. So every morning Patsy gets a mini pedi. She tolerates one foot being done and complains about the second one. I'm sure she'll get use to it.

Ive just reread this thread,it is very useful for Matthew who has sore feet at present due to gut stasis 3 weeks ago.Has very practicle tips ! ive had to wait sometime to get a vet visit for this.!Thankyou @Betsy .I'm so sorry Patsy is at the rainbow bridge.
