Patrick is unwell again.

So sorry for poor Patrick sending lots of healing vibes over. Can you gently message his tummy in a downward trend with his bum slightly raised? It really helped once when Ted had his first dental and was a little bolted the day after. I assume he has had gut motility drugs from the vets. I won’t think a little bit of pink thread will have done any harm when you look at what they eat sometimes (I.e. plastic puppy pads) Try not to worry x
 
Big hugs to you and Patrick. Really hope his meds kick in soon. I’ve found tummy massages really help too when they’re a bit blocked up.
Sorry you might end up at vets on your birthday, hopefully there’ll be lots of happy piggy bday kisses waiting for you when you pick him up xx
 
Thanks so much both of you. I’ve massaged his tummy a little bit but will do it more often as you’ve recommended it!
He’s had day three at the vets today.. while I’ve been putting on a brave face for my birthday as boyfriend treated me to a day spa/massage in town that he booked a few weeks ago. I’ve felt super anxious all day, but hey ho.
Picked Patrick up this evening from the vet, and he has done a few very very dry poops. But atleast it’s something.. Vet said they are sooo dry because they’ve been sitting in his system for so long. I got a much better vibe from the vet today, he actually made me laugh. And I know the specialist has been keeping an eye on Patrick too.
I’ve put him in with the girls for a few hours to cheer him up, then I’ll put him separate over night to monitor poops. He was just sitting in the corner looking poorly a moment ago, but now he’s poking around eating some hay and has had a drink.
We will be back at the vets for a fourth day of treatment tomorrow.

I can’t cope. I feel sick.

Felt really positive about Patrick today after speaking to the vet, He had an x-ray which showed a fibrous mass in his stomach which of course really needs to break down and pass through. So he said back onto grass and veggies, get him eating etc. He said he was doing well through the day.
But I’ve just got him home and put him in the cage and he can’t walk properly, it’s like his back legs are stiff and strange, so he kind of runs with a weird hop. And then he just lays down 😭
He will eat vegetables but other than that he’s not doing anything.
I feel like his body is giving up. This is so awful, I really thought he’d be brighter tonight. I can’t cope

I am really hoping you get some rest and he turns a corner overnight, but please know that no one could have done more for him.

Really thought last night was it.. But Patrick is still with us!
Checked on him a few times in the night and was so pleased to see he still had an appetite this morning, relatively bright eyed. I do feel his walking has improved slightly, but he’s still sitting around all the time. He will eat grass, which he receives every hour or so. And still wants veggies. He’s not eating hay unfortunately, apart from the odd strand. But I’m critical caring him abs pain relief twice a day. I think he’s pooping a bit, but as I thought he was going to die last night I kept him in with the girls during the night and today. But I’m going to separate him for a few hours now to see what he produces.
Oh and I did phone the vet first thing this morning about his legs, and we agreed it was best to keep him home today and continue on as we are and see how he goes.

Poor Patrick :(
But trying to keep positive.
 
I’m so happy for you that he made it through the night. Please do a poo for mummy Patrick. Hope he improves more today 💕
 
Where did you find it? just by itself/in poop etc?

Id completely rule out sperm rod....doesnt look like it at all.
 
Can you break it up? Does it feel like poo?

Sorry, I haven't got a clue except that it is not a sperm rod. Keep an eye out and see whether there is more of the same in the coming days or whether it is one of these one-offs you never get to the bottom of.

Touch wood.. Patrick has been okay today. Not awesome, but not terrible. He’s done a few poops of small shapes and sizes. He seems a bit more active, and pestering the other pigs for their poops. I’ll make poop soup later!
