Our piggies

Got home from work, Hamish had hay sticking out of his eye. Tried to pull it, but I watched as it went into his eye. My heart sank.
Called our local vet(walking distance) they squeezed us in. No hay to be found. One cross piggy- with a green eye. Hamish has now disappeared into a hay pile for a nap. 🤦‍♀️

Glad it wasn’t a haypoke.
Good that you got him to the vet so promptly - much better to be safe than sorry.

Hamish has had a rough week, he lost a bit of his Hamishness. Despite trying his best to be a guinea pig, it became apparent it was too much.
We saw the vet on Friday, who agreed with us, that it was time.

Hamish’s caecum and general intestines, did not feel right to the vet on palpitation. He had spent the last few days being a refusenik about recovery food, which he usually wolfs down.

Sweet dreams, rest in peace my handsome boy.

Hamish 2024

I am so sorry to read this.
It made me dry, Hamish was such a lovely boy and one of my forum favourites.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve

It’s not been an easy week, for us hoomans. Missing our Hamish, and all the silly little things we did, in our piggy routine just because somehow we ended up with them.
Like a pellet after morning meds. Although Wally, won’t let me forget that one- despite him not having meds. 7am is apparently time for one pellet!

Wally’s been understandably quieter than usual.

These last few days, he has found some of his cheekiness again. We are working on getting him some company, but with his background- it’s taking a little while.

Wally is not impressed with my attempts at speaking guinea pig!
