I’ve seen these before and think they’re adorable, would this be enough for one guinea pig? Or should I stick to normal caging? I’ve asked my dad to build one of them and he said he would.

I like them, aslong as they are lined inside so they don't soak up urrine, have enough ventilation to not trap ammonia, and meet the minimum size requirements for however many guinea pigs you have, I do think these designs look the best, but are more suited for gerbils, hamsters, rats, mice.

If you do make one, make sure it can't topple over, screw it back to the wall with those safety attachments 👍

Do you use fleece bedding? I’m using disposable bedding right now so I change it once / twice a week, but if I were to switch to this, I’d look into fleece.

Yea I use fleece liners, they have a waterproof bottom layer, a layer in middle that absorbs and then fleece top, but I hate fleece to be honest, I'm just stuck in my ways and can't be bothered to do anything else at the moment.

I'd go for aubious if you can find any near you. Look it up 👍

It would depend hugely on the size of one level - it would have to be at least minimum requirement size to be suitable. Guinea pigs need their floor space to be large and on one level. Upper levels do not count towards cage size, and therefore do not increase the space they have, they are simply a bonus.
It would also need to be made of safe wood and very secure.

Why do you ask if it is big enough for just one guinea pig?

Wow, I thought fleece was an “easier” method of bedding. Do you just sweep up the poop everyday and wash the fleece bedding every 2-3 days?

If I were to do this, I would use one dresser per pig (I have 2). I’ll have to look into this more, since I didn’t know that the upper levels would only be a bonus. Thanks!

Guinea pigs are ground roaming (and not natural climbers), that is why upper levels don’t count. They need uninterrupted floor space

Do your pigs not live together then?
I would be quite concerned about doing this simply because if you have single pigs and no intention of bonding them with a new partner, then they will need to have sight of each other through bars to enable some interaction to stop loneliness

It seems to be eaiser if you have a c and c or a big enough cage for it. In a 120x60 cage, fleece doesn't work well I find. It's more suited for bigger living areas

if you really wanted this sort of cage you could build a C&C run around it that meets the minimum requirements but the dresser cage alone would not be big enough. also your piggies should be able to see each other and interact if not sharing a cage.

Yes they do look nice but those ones in particular won't be large enough.. not more floor space... C & C cages can look very pretty with nice fleece..

I would alos be concerned about ventilation with a dresser cage - it would be easy for amonia to build up without an open roof, which kind of defeats the object of having one in the first place.

The one that says dreams in the picture, I have that chest of drawers and it's definitely not big enough to meet the minimum cage size cause I measured mine to see if I could convert it.

I think the dresser cages look pretty but definitely not a good size for guinea pigs unfortunately.

If you want some creative ideas for pretty C&C type cages, Pinterest has some brilliant pictures. I have a whole Pinterest board of C&C cages from when I was researching mine 😄 Some people have created some amazingly stylish spaces for their pigs.

Just my opinion, but I think they look like cages designed to look nice for people rather than being designed for piggies.
true this. I think if they could be longer and meet space needs, they would be a good thing, you can even put extractor fans in them if you know how

They have been in pretty bad fights before, so they are cage neighbors but not in the same cage. I had another guinea pig who got along fine with both of them who passed about a week ago.

I’ll look into it, they’re currently cage neighbors

Yeah I wasnt planning on making something as small like that, just for reference. I’ll look into some C&C cage designs!

Yeah that is true, if I was to have that design I’d make it a lot bigger and have lots of open space

I’ve never really looked into C&C cage designs, I definitely will be!

Wow, that design looks really cool, I wonder how they made that!
Looks like they took the drawers out, and then just stuck clear acyrlic sheets across as a window and barrier, then put metal stoppers on to hold it in place. I would be concerned about both of you're guine apigs not being able to se eachother though
