Not sure if Percy is poorly

Thanks everyone. I’ve been on pee watch this evening. And both boys were refusing to comply. Took ages but Percy did one! I soaked it up on some tissue to see the colour of it. And I noticed it really smelt like fish! Also it looked quite thick and yellow. So at least I have more info for the vet tomorrow.

Percy saw the vet this evening. He was a good boy. It was his very first vet appointment. She listened to his heart and lungs. Both fine. She squeezed his bladder and he didn’t show any signs of pain. She couldn’t feel any stones or grit. So at the moment he’s on 0.3ml of dog loxicom once a day. And I’ve got to try and get a wee sample tomorrow and they will test for bacteria and blood. She also said to stop the fibreplex now his poops were firm. They are still small though.

Also does 0.3ml seem a lot? He weighs 1.2kg. Thanks

Hectors just been pescribed 0.15ml for a sprain and he is 1.14kg.
I hope Percy feels better soon.
The boys send get well soon wheeeks.

That’s what made be question my dosage 😬. That’s double Hectors isn’t it? Hope Hectors leg gets better soon.

I am still learning, so don't really understand! That is quite a difference for similar weights.

Thank you, I am hoping Hector is better soon too!

Your vet has opted for a low dose because they are obviously not very worried about the sprain and your boy's behaviour seems support her judgment.

Please keep in mind that any vet has discretion as to how severe the pain and the problem is. You cannot quite compare dosages all the time; there are several more factors playing into it when they decide at which level to treat.

This was Percy yesterday in my hospital cage. I was trying to get a urine sample.

I’m sure he was thinking “I don’t understand. What do you want from me?”

Aw look at this face 💙 As a comparison my Ted was given 0.3 ml twice a day for his teeth his weight was. 1200- 1250 gm
Hope you can get to th root of what’s wrong with Percy and get him better soon x

Yes @Wiebke he is still perky. The urine same came back with no blood in it. So I’ve got to give it a few days on the loxicom. He was still squeaking yesterday. If the squeaking doesn’t stop then the vet might try antibiotics next. His poops are still small. Giving pro C daily still. But its a mystery at the moment. 🤨

Glad that there is no blood in the urine but that doesn't make it any easier for you to work out what is causing the discomfort and loss of appetite.

So last night AND this evening Percy didn’t pee for me so I don’t know if he’s still having discomfort or not. I’ve started introducing a little cucumber and corriander the last couple of days. Very small amounts.

His poops are still smaller than peppers. Should I still be worried? They seem a good consistency and shape (just small). He seems happy. His weight is still down. I’m confused. @Wiebke? Any advice. Just a bit confused. Don’t want to make a mountain
out of a molehill. Thank you ❤️

Hi!

The poos are a good thickness and consistency; they look like your boy is eating enough to maintain his weight.
Shorter poos can happen when there is discomfort in the area at the end of the gut where the poos form - however, it it looks like a minor issue and not like a major one. The important one is the thickness (nice and plump) and a healthy consistency.

Does that help you?

Yes thank you. 😘. I just don’t want to miss anything. I’ll keep an eye on him for a few days and see how he goes. Thank you again.

Are both boys intact or is Percy neutered?

Have you tried putting him on a puppy pad, plastic side up and waiting for him to pee. Shouldn't take long.

The fact that they're consistent is good.

Hiya. They are both intact. i managed to get a wee sample but it showed up with no blood. Which was good but didn’t answer the question as to why Percy was squeaking when peeing or
pooping. So I’ve got to monitor him. But now he’s not peeing for me. Lol. I’m sure as soon as I pop him back into his cage he will pee. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Naughty boy. 😍

That’s piggies for you, as soon as your backs turned he‘ll pee!

Little update. Percy’s poops are still small but firm. He’s still on Pro C twice a day. I’ve been slowly introducing a little bit more veg and he’s maintaining his weight. So I’m going to weigh him every couple of days now. Haven’t heard any squeaking when he’s pooping and peeing. He’s got one more day on painkillers. So hopefully he’s over whatever it was. 😃

Morning. I have a quick question. Will Percy’s poop ever get back to a bigger size or is this his new normal? Thanks

So Percy’s poops are still small. Not soft though. Last week he put on 20g. No more squeaking when going to the toilet. Still on Pro C once a day and eating all his usual veggies. He’s a bit itchy so I’m mite treating them again. Do small poops still need another vet visit?
