New guinea pig

Yes they are fun. But they’re not played with like a dog or cat. They may never like being held or picked up. They’re not cuddly creatures at the end of the day.

Yes but in the end they are fun? That you can play with?
It depends what you want from a pet. If you want cuddles and playing all the time I'm afraid you have chosen the wrong pet. Guinea pigs are prey animals so they are naturally nervous and will hide. Some will never enjoy being picked up or cuddled.

I agree, they aren't cuddly pets but are very fun to play with, you can give them toys and watch them play with them. You will be very happy with them once they settle in.

I put them in the sitting room for floor time. I feed them. I watch them wandering around in their cage. I rarely get them out for a cuddle. They quite like it but I don’t mind not holding them all the time.

What do you do with your pigs?
I let them out on the floor with boxes and hay and hidden food. I sit with them but I let them go about their business without bothering them constantly. If they come to me I will give them a stroke but if they aren't enjoying it I stop immediately.

I enjoy when i give them big piles of hay and they make tunnels through it and eat there way out, it is always a big laugh! I also love letting them out in the garden, but they will need to be fully settled in to do this, it can be quite frightening for them.

Hiding food around the cage is always lot of fun for them and us, i love cheering them on and watching them find it, they always gobble the food up quickly to try and get more :)

Is there anything special someone here has done with them?
Play? training?

No, they cannot be trained. The only play is watching them interacting with each other (which yours can’t do due to them being opposite sexes). I sit in the pen with my boys and watch them. They don’t really like being touched (but that is entirely normal for guinea pigs, most don’t like being touched or picked up)

What do you mean?
Can't males and females communicate?
They are constantly communicating !

Of course they communicate, but We have told you yoav, your piggies need to be separated due to them being opposite sexes. They will still communicate through the bars of separate cages

I won't buy another cage. I will look for a solution. Maybe I'll bring a friend.

But then the male will be left alone!
They are supposed to be together, not alone!

You will have to find a solution very quickly then as everyone has already said. You can't keep the male and female together any long.

So if you bring a friend for the boy then where will you keep them? You need to separate them. I think you need to get off here for now and think how you can house them separately and in the space they require.

Can you buy a shelf and put it back down to use as their cage? Separated of course. And making sure the Male can’t jump and get in with the female.

We have answered those questions several times
You need to put them in separate cages and then they need to have their cages next to each other so they can still have interaction with each other through the bars.
You are going to need more and bigger cages in any event as when any male babies are old enough to be separated from their mother at 3 weeks old, then you need to have somewhere to put them.

)I have anxiety from reading this (sorry if rude) :
