More Fighting Help

I'm not an expert in boar behaviour - but, giving them more room will definitely help.

I want to buy a c&c cage attachment and my wife wants to add more play pins and cut and zip tie to save money.

We already cut and destroyed the playpin. But we only have two more squares left and I don't think it will work.

I know - it's difficult when you 1st start out. I'm on my 4th set up here !

This is them out of no where fighting growling loud, teeth chattering ect. The picture of them facing each other on there sides is about to fight

As @PiggyOwner said, your guinea's would deffinately benefit from more room, if they are on top of each other all of the time you can get plenty of squabbles, we have 7 boars, 3 sets of 2 and 1 on his own due to him fighting with his cage mate. The pairs are all in 2x5's and the single one is in a 2x3 until we get him neutered. We have no real problems with them apart from Storm who is hormonal atm and had been trying to hump Snow who struts Storm, I have also heard one of them chatter their teeth, but nothing bad.

I think your guinea's are going through the hormonal phase which I've read can last until they are 18 months old.

The problem we had with the himi's was that they BOTH wanted to be dominant so it turned into a nasty fight, the younger himi now has a baby friend called Tyrion (6 weeks old) the usual humping happened of course from TK but they seem find now.

Please consider giving your guinea's more space so they can escape one another and they aren't under each other's feet.

Cage sizes are here

I'm sure Wiebke will be on later and will give you some advice :) Try not to stress out too much.

I thought personaly they already had a huge cage.
Should I put moo moos. House, food, toy, and water bottle on top floor?
And nibbles on bottom.
Allowing a ramp for them to go up and down together. My fear is bullying at the ramp. Not allowing one to pass

Moo moo also hides Lot here.
Nibbles will fight moo moo out of his purple house.
And some times nibbles will go in moos house and won't let moo in. Rarely some times they sleep together only in moos house

I've given the link for cage sizes on my last post :) Have a look on there at the minimum size and see if your cage is the right size, they do recommend to have a grid bigger for boars.

This is ours - At the time of taking this one there was only one boar on the floor cage, we just adopted a new one yesterday, so they all have two in them.

44 by 30 inches.
Not 23 I'm sorry. Dealing with baby too
She's sick

For two boars a cage size of 76 x 157 cm's is recommended but as yours are babies I think 76 x 127 cm's would do in the meantime :)

In inches that's 30 x 61 or 30 x 50.

Wait and see what Wiebke says and try not to stress out too much.

In all honesty, my hormonal guinea's can be a bit of a pain when they get started and they have bigger cages lol.

Don't panic too much as long as they aren't drawing blood. Have you spoken to the people are the store you got them from and asked for advice from them?

I haven't asked the pet store because they told me ferret food was for guinea pigs. And they don't specialize in guineas. They also sell monkeys. Fish. Turtles. Lizard. 80ft long huge snakes. Ect. Ect.

Also my baby screams a lot in our room and she will come by the cage and try to say hello but for her that's screaming. I say calm down mama. Lol

This is a update; I hear no fighting yet
We switched the bowls. And also for me what helps some is not direct eye contact because moo moo wich is mine. Nibbles is my wifes.
Moo would look at me terrifyd long periods of times. But when I look side ways he will continue on. Moo will eat carrots. Bite a green pepper. Won't touch salad.

Hi! Could you please still answer my question as to how old your boys are and how long you have had them? This is very important in judging what is going on, apart from the space question - to see whether they are still in the process of establishing dominance or whether they are hitting a rough spot during the teenage months; there are also peaks during these months, so by pinning the background down as best as possible, we can then tailor our advice much better to what is really helpful in your current situation.

Your boys' space is on the small side and they can certainly profit from an extension or an upper level, especially if they are in the hormonal teenage stage between 4-14 months old.

Getting hideys with two exits is a very wise idea; that means that no boar can be cornered inside a hidey, which is a common flash point for fights. You can also simply make hideys out of cardboard boxes, by the way - just cut generous openings on two sides. You don't need to spend lots of money! ;)

I answered the age earlier unless my phone deleted my answer it's been acting weird lately. 1-2weeks. And the lady told me nibbles was 8 weeks. And moo was 10-12

Yeah I was looking at cardboard boxes on ebay.
I had lap time with moo moo. Gave him a green peppers he let me rub him was alright. He moved around and screeched a little bit.
I picked nibbles up he wouldn't stay still tried to run off the couch.
Inspected for blood, was a hard white lumpy stain on his butt. Like a nickel of dried substance. It was white/clear.
I'm assuming was semen my god i couldn't get it off with out hurting him so i wiped himnwith a guinea pig wet wipe and put him back. He was yelling wich i assume was submissive?
Cant tell the diffrence between sumbmissive and leave me alone. I read and saw heard videos on it though.
When he was yelling moo moo in the cage yelled back.
Moo moo did not do this during our long lap time.
Nibbles lap time was 3minutes.

Thanks for answering that question. This means that:
- both your boys are still below the teenage months and their testicles have not yet descended. They are not yet at an age where the serious fights happen.
- Establishing a new hierarchy with a new mate in a new home takes on average two weeks. Your boys are still in the process of doing so. They are quite obviously rather closely matched in dominance, which could pose a problem once the testosterone comes in play when the testicles descend. Chasing piggies out of houses or off food bowls is typical behaviour for this phase. Make sure that with boars you have everything in two (hideys, bowls, water bottles, hay racks etc.) Ideally any hideys/houses should have two exits, so no boar can be cornered. High pitched loud squealing mean submission.

Please have a read through our boar guidse when you have time, so you can learn better how to judge their behaviour. You won't be able to miss the change when your boys turn serious, believe me!
