But was your appointment quite early? Mine is 11:15am and the practice closes at 6:30pm.

I hadn't considered taking Minerva along, and didn't for the first appointment; I didn't think Minerva would make a great emotional support animal because if she's terrified, she climbs all over Gaia and if she is happy, she does zoomies - including running over Gaia. But the vet said bring her to the second. I hadn't realised being apart for a few hours or overnight could jeopardize their bond.
 
It's always better to take both of them to the vet.
My vet usually doesn't operate at once (if it isn't a major emergency). She has got operating times apart from the usual opening hours. So she does the diagnostics first and if the piggy needs an operation, the appointment is on another day, depending on the urgency.
 
Some good news!

Gaia had her ultrasound scan and another pee sample taken and it's not pyometra, nor any kind of infection of her reproductive system. No signs of cancer, tumours or bladder stones, just a bladder infection and the vet said of her urine sample, Gaia seems to be on the mend as there was no trace of blood and the protein levels are dropping.

Gaia does have a tiny ovarian cyst that we're going to monitor with biannual or annual health checks.

The vet has given me a week's worth of antibiotics and pain relief (she has upped the dose of this a little) and given us something to help stimulate Gaia's appetite as she hasn't been eating as well as she usually does. The vet still says she is fat though. 😅 And she would like to see Gaia in a week's time, unless we see more bleeding, then I'm to bring her in sooner.

When Gaia got home she demolished a small pile of grass, ate some hay and some pellets and had a glug of water. I forgot to ask the vet but am I OK to stop the appetite stimulants if/when she no longer appears to need them?

She was good as gold for the vet because she was too scared to misbehave.

Gaia: "W-what? I-I wasn't s-c-ared. I was storing energy so I could give the vet a good thrashing! She's lucky you took me away before I could hit her with my power-paw attack!"

Gaia: "I have grievances! I was very patient and allowed the Slave to give me the 'nasty, yucky syringe' and the 'just-ok syringe' but there was none of the yummy stuff! I want the 'scrumptious syringe'!

You only get the metacam once per day, Gaia...

Gaia: "BUT I WANT IT NOW!" *paw stomp*
