Mavis Needs Some Healing Vibes

Waiting for results is so hard, but very glad Mavis came through her anaesthesia ok. Mavis doesnt know that you think she's ill, so just spoil her with lots of treats and cuddles and try to enjoy the happy todays- piggies dont worry about tomorrow, that is just for us hoomans (especially those of us worrying about our piggies- sending hugs x)

Glad Mavis is doing ok after her appointment. Hope the results come back quickly.

Mavis is doing fine, other than drinking lots and having slightly squishy poo. She doesn't know she is poorly and is just carrying on as usual.

She has had some extra pea flakes and some willow twigs.

No test results yet.

Any news on Mavis’s test results, sending hugs hope it’s good news 🤞

No results yet, i'm going to call the vets tomorrow as they said i would get them quickly. Mavis in not well to be honest even without having veggies she has really soft poo and is sleeping quite a lot. I'm having to clean her a couple of times a day and she really doesn't like it. We love her dearly and it is sad to see her like this. I don't want to give up on her as maybe the results will show something that is treatable.

She is still eating by herself and is on 0.7ml of Metacam twice daily, so hopefully is not in any pain. We will make sure she doesn't suffer and will help her across the rainbow bridge if she shows any signs of distress.

So we have the test results. Better news than we were hoping for, Mavis has a serious infection somewhere, so she has 10 days of antibiotics. If there is no improvement after 5 days she will need to have an ultrasound so that they can see if there is something else that they are missing which is causing the problem.

Thank you for all your good wishes for Mavis, i will keep this thread updated with her progress. :)

Aw, better news, let’s hope the AB’s sort whatever has been making her poorly, get well soon little Mavis x

It's kinda hard to convey the audible sigh of relief, so I'll just have to settle for saying it instead. Here's hoping the antibiotics can do the trick 🤞

A quick question. I have to give Mavis her antibiotics once daily (0.6ml) and the vet said to continue with the Fibreplex. How long should i leave it after the antibiotics before i give her the Fibreplex?

She hates the antibiotics and i can't even give her a reward of coriander as she has an upset tummy. Could i give her a pea flake or would this cause problems too?

I’m so pleased the results weren’t as bad as they could have been. Hopefully Mavis will soon be on the mend.

I personally wouldn’t offer peas either. Sorry Mavis. How about a nice seed head. 🌾

I normally follow up the antibiotics with metacam but if she doesn't have it... I think I'd personally go rogue with a sprig of herb. Don't judge me too much!

A little update. After a week of antibiotics Mavis is brighter in herself but the swelling under her neck has not reduced. So I am expecting that she will need to have an ultrasound. Also, she still has very soft poops but I'm expecting that it is the antibiotics causing this.

She is such a a sweetheart and takes all her meds without complaint. Although she is getting a bit fed up of the constant bum baths and has a good grumble at me.
