Mavis Needs Some Healing Vibes

IMG20230307082547.webpCan you hold sweet Mavis in your thoughts tomorrow. She has been drinking a lot of water lately and I noticed last night that she has water retention. We have seen the vet today and she also has swollen glands. The vet suspects kidney disease or lymphoma. Mavis will have blood tests and a needle biopsy of one of the glands tomorrow. She seems totally unaware that she is poorly and is eating as normal. We love her dearly and sometimes forget what an old lady she is.
 
Oh Mavis, I hope the tests results are good and that you remain oblivious of anything that might be wrong and keep enjoying life with your friends.
 
Sending healing wheeks to Mavis, and hugs to you- must be such a worry.
We've had similar things with 2 piggies and had a sad outcome (Piggle with lymphoma) and a happy outcome (Blodwen with suspected kidney failure but absolutely nothing wrong with her after blood tests) so its always good to get the tests- the results come quite fast, but the waiting is the hardest thing.
If Mavis is happy and eating that's the main thing- hope she has many more happy todays x

George's increased drinking started at about the same time as his stone issues although I couldn't tell you what came first. As far as we can tell there's nothing wrong with his kidneys as he doesn't have fluid retention, although his back legs are a bit puffy... but then he does have arthritis there.
Good luck at the vets Mavis. I hope it's something manageable x

We are just on our way to pick up Mavis (and Peggy).

We were hoping for the blood results today but unfortunately the vet who was supposed to be doing the procedure was off sick so another vet has had to do them. This vet can't do the tests today (as they are short staffed) so it will probably be early next week before we get a diagnosis.

On the bright side, Mavis has recovered well from the anaesthetic and is bright and tucking into some snacks.
