Little Melvins rescue

Apart from his troubles with a difficult housemate how has Melvin been getting on generally?
 
Such a shame that it hasn't worked out for Melvin and Petey. 🙁 Hope Melvin is doing well.

Could Melvin have a friend live in a cage alongside him. I'm sure that their are other boars in rescues that they have been unable to bond but would love a home next door to Melvin.
 
Aw best made plans, we’ve all been there 😊 Glad you have found Petey a new home with lots of ladies to play with. A side by side cage set up with another older lonely boar would be a great solution for little Melvin. They would both benefit that way.

Sorry that their bond didnt work. Peteys new home sounds amazing. Hope you find a nice companion for Melvin even if it has to be as neighbours.

I’ve only just seen this thread. Thank goodness for kind people like you. It’s an amazing transformation this little guy has been through. I can’t believe he was left like that. He’s absolutely adorable. I’m glad he’s found such a wonderful home with you.

I think Melvin has a uri!
he has a wet nose and eyes!
he was making a weird honk noise when he was sleeping, I woke him up to listen to his chest
There is a muffle and slight clicking!
he’s eating and drinking well, he does move about but faces the corner
I’ve given him 0.64baytril I had spare from when he was with me early days and a snuggle heat pad in his hay box bed as his feet felt cool

Poor Melvin, can you get him to a vets? I’m not experienced in guinea pigs, but if he were my boy I’d try and get him an appointment ASAP. I think sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry with anything that concerns you. Sending healing vibes to Melvin.

mine nostil is only affected and spears blocked from swelling l, she thinks hay poke/ dust ect,
His chest sounded clear and he was alert and responsive.
commenced baytril for 7 days

Saddest news
Tonight little Melvin passed away 💔
After many weeks, of ABX, hand feeding and tender loving care Melvin fell asleep in my arms, he fought his hardest till his last breath.
I’ve sobbed and sobbed a million tears
Sleep tight my dearest friend 💔
 
So sorry to hear that, he fought so hard and he had some very happy loved filled final months 🌈❤️
 
You gave him the best and most loving final months after his horrible start in life. He trundled over the Rainbow Bridge knowing he was loved and he has taken all that love with him. RIP little guy.
 
I’m so sorry for your loss. You gave him many happy today’s after you brought him home. Take good care of yourself. 💕
 
I'm so sorry you didn't have longer with that wonderful little guy. But the life you gave him was more than he could have ever dreamed of while he sat in that miserable dirty hutch. That picture of him in the clean pile of hay is one of the loveliest pictures I have ever seen. I have tears too now writing this. He will never be forgotten 💜. You did a wonderful thing that day.
 
Aw bless him. Take good care of yourself and look back with pride at the life you gave him. Rip Melvin x

I am so very sorry that you’ve lost Melvin. It’s heartbreaking for you that you didn’t have longer with him , but I have no doubt that his last days with you were his best and happiest. Huge hugs to you xx
 
I’m so sorry you lost Melvin. You gave him an amazing second chance and he knew he was loved and taken care of. His last few months he didn’t have to worry about when he was next getting fed or fresh drink. His fur was clean and beautiful. He finally got the love he deserved.

I am so very sorry that you have lost Melvin, your heart must be breaking. He was such a special boy and his time with you was the best of his life. You did a wonderful thing rescuing him from such awful circumstances and giving him unconditional love.
