Just when I thought this year couldn’t get any worse.. ringworm?

Hope all goes well at the vets and gorgeous Banner gets rid of it quickly (and no one else is affected!). You’re doing nothing wrong at all! xx

It’s definitely nothing you’ve been doing or not doing. It happens to us all from time to time! Hope all goes well at the vets.

My vet is closed today. Open tomorrow. I spoke to a vet on emergency calls at the hospital. They said no need to rush him in and pay emergency charges today as it’s a small patch.
They said to ring first thing tomorrow morning.

he’s pop Corning around and eating normally. He’s not really scratching or itching either.

I do have a bottle of Itrafungol, but I’ll wait to see the vet tomorrow morning.

I’ve just caught up with this - I’m so sorry for Banner ( and you) but the right treatment is very effective. Good luck today at the Vets. I’ve used Animed for prescriptions and they’re great as I’m sure are others. It could work out cheaper.
Please don’t think it’s anything you’re doing ..... it really isn’t. No one could do anymore for their piggies. You spotted this quickly for Banner and I’m sure he’ll recover very quickly bless him. Look after yourself and don’t worry too much 🥰

Thank you 😊💕

So I’m still trying to find Banner an exotic vet. Nightmare. Every vet I call from the vet locator say they don’t have an exotic specialist. I also don’t want to waste my time or money going to vets 4 pets?
after having a non-exotic vet treat Odin wrongly, I feel I won’t get anywhere with Banner. I’ve asked about the Itrafungol, but many are telling me that it’s not used in Guinea pigs.

I’ve sent Cat and Rabbit an image of his skin over email and asked if it’s something we can discuss over the phone to save me driving 150 miles, just waiting to hear back.
But I do worry that they won’t treat him over the phone as they haven’t met him before.

Simon can see him Tuesday as they can’t diagnose over the phone. But I’m back at work so need to figure out how to get him there.
I’m just unsure if to take him to Vets 4 Pets this afternoon as I’ve not had good experience with them

Oh gosh that’s really difficult for you. I can understand your wariness because of previous bad experiences. Could you take Banner to TEAS at the weekend ? I realise more expense is incurred that way but Debbie is very experienced and lovely and would do anything to help .....you would feel happier with a diagnosis from the Cat & Rabbit centre. Or would a change of scenery be too stressful for Banner. Really hard for you .... thinking of you and Banner 🥰

Oh what a nightmare! Really feel for you - these animals do like to pick unhelpful timings don’t they. I would offer to help but I’m ages away and back at work on Monday too. Hopefully you can sort something out for your lovely little man! 🤞🏻

Thank you both, I’m continuing to ring around to see if I can find someone. He’s fine in himself but I don’t want him to get any worse x

Have you tried Birch Heath Vets at Tarporley? I know it will be an hour drive probably to you but they are exotic vets.

Also, try Cheshire Pet at Holmes Chapel. They have an exotic vet there and they also do video consultation.

I’ve tried both, but they have no availability till next week. He’s been twitching and itching so wanted to get him seen sooner, as I presume I shouldn’t be leaving it till next week?

They have a non-exotic vet available at Cheshire pet, but the exotic vet is in next week.

I said I wouldn’t use Ashleigh Vets again but they can fit him in tomorrow morning. Cheshire can do next Wednesday at 10 but I’m back at work

Mmm how hard this is ! I really don’t know what is best. If you weren’t happy with Ashleigh vets ..... I think the trust is broken and maybe try the two suggested by any anyar.dris - good luck and I hope Banner gets the help he needs ASAP 🥰

Thank you. Cheshire Pet (Who I have used and aww very good) can do Wednesday next week but I’m working 🙈🙈🙈 nightmare.

I’d be asking if they have a guinea pig savvy vet, rather than an exotic vet. Simon and Kim are not exotic vets, but are more guinea pig savvy than most exotic vets xx
Thanks Debbie. A lot of the people I ring say they aren’t specialists in guinea pigs, so haven’t wanted to take him to them. Especially after Odin was given steroids by a vet with no piggie experience earlier in the year xx
